If my hunch is correct, this could be the first of the many Street Fighter IV updates.

Repeating what I said in the main Street Fighter IV thread, T. Hawk seems to be scraping the bottom of the SF2 barrel, when not a single SF3 character has made it into the game. The only thing wrong with SF3 is that the first version had only Ken and Ryu from the previous versions. There's no reason to pretend it didn't exist.

As long as it's a download and not a new disc.

I personally wouldn't care if we never got Dee Jay or T. Hawk, since I was never all that proficient with nor especially cared for either character, but since they've already got the other new characters from Super Street Fighter 2 (Fei Long and Cammy) as well as Akuma (Gouki) from Super SF2, they might as well stick those guys in there as well.

My question is: how are they they going to add them? Hopefully it won't involve buying a whole other disc, 'cause frankly, Dee Jay and T. Hawk aren't worth that, IMO.

Sadly, SF3 wasn't all that greatly received by much of the SF faithful; many deride it for either being too different from SF2 or not different enough. I applauded Capcom for daring to break the mold and actually trying to make SF3 a new game and not just an SF2 rehash, but at the same time, there were only a few SF3 characters who really clicked with me. The main SF3 character who gets love from Capcom these days is Alex, since he was originally intended to be the star of SF3, not Ryu and Ken, but I always found Alex to be kind of 'blah'. The main SF3 characters I liked were Dudley, Elena and Yun & Yang; I'd have liked to have seen any of them turn up in SF4, but none of them were fan favorites.

You sure about that? From what I know and read, Third Strike is commonly mentioned in any discussion "Best SF game ever" when the major fans get to talking. It's really because once that game came up, there were no other reasons to play the first two. Third Strike perfected what they were going for in the SF3 mold. For that style, it still holds up today and is still a popular tournament game of high-level players.

Only Third Strike, though. Silver wasn't specifically talking about that last one, which was the best.

Yeah. I thought Third Strike the best installment of the series as well, but in the above post I was talking about the SF3 franchise as a whole. Capcom seems content to just sweep any evidence of SF3 under the rug for the most part.

Just because something is favored by "high-level players" doesn't mean it was the most popular (or even the best, really). If they had put in more SF2 characters into Third Strike that might have helped matters in terms of popularity, but I think in general the SF2 and Alpha series have a larger fanbase and that's who they're trying to reach out to in this game.

Good thing I decided not to get Street Fighter 4 until it went cheap.

Street Fighter 1, 2, and 3 all had completely different casts except for a few holdovers. It's hardly 3's fault it was just following the trend. 4 is basically Alpha 3 in 3D from what I've seen. Hardly anything new.

If they rerelease Street Fighter IV, it better have more than just Dee Jay and T.Hawk. Those two are practically the least popular characters of the Super Street Fighter 2 series, so I'm gonna need more incentive (code for "gimme Karin and Adon) to bet it.

Though I'm guessing they may take the route of rereleasing the game for those who haven't picked it up, and selling the characters through DLC. A bit redundant, but they might throw in extra features in the reissue to sway potential customers.

For the record, I like Dee Jay. He's a solid if not remarkable fighter who can hold his own in a fight. T. Hawk on the other hand... why are they adding him again?

For the sake of completing the SF2 line-up. But I do not like T-Hawk, he's Zangief only not that memorable and the ability to fly.

I really want some SF3 characters though. Yun & Yang is at the top of that because they appear in Chun-Li's opening cutscene. Alex is another one considering he's playable in Tatsunoko VS Capcom. I really wish there was some way to put Ibuki in the game, she's pretty awesome. But of course, SF3 was not that successful or memorable.

I actually can't stand most of the SF3 characters(mainly only really care for Remy and Ibuki) give me all of SF1-2 and Alpha series characters before touching those please.

Do you know the one character type that has been conspicuously absent: the one armed Chinese boxer. I know there's Oro but we need a proper one armed Chinese boxer not a weird old Brazilian dude that tucks his arm in. I mean we already have a cocky Muay Thai Kickboxer, a stretchy Indian Yoga master, and Ninja that uses some unfair weapons but no one armed Chinese boxer; what's the deal Capcom?

Like Beat, I'd love to have this as long as it's DLC and not an actual game.

But yeah, really want SF3 characters. If I had to choose who I want to be showcased with SF4 technology it's: Alex, Elena, Q, and Dudley. Granted I only used the last character most often of the four, but they are so unique in terms of fighting prowess that they also deserve to be rendered in 3-d glory.

Give me Twelve and make him balanced! I'd love to see him animated the way they did Dhalsim!

Oh yeah, DLC, no new disk!!!
