I saw this coming a mile away, but it is sad to see as they were a big part of the SNES/Genesis days as well as the 32/64 bit era.

Fanboy dream: Capcom buys Midway, produces Street Fighter versus Mortal Kombat. But I suppose both games play so different that's not very realistic. *sigh*

    Maybe Mortal Puzzle Fighter Kombat?

Well they filed for Chapter 11 which means they're trying to get their stuff together. Of course most companies that file for it usually go bankrupt but it doesn't mean they are yet.

And this doesn't mean the death of Midway franchises we'll see MK and others picked up by someone else.

So apparently the reason Midway is bankrupt is because they owed this people money. That alot of money. Don't know how Midway is gonna get out of this one.

I wonder why they owe retailers money. Must be in store advertisement or something.

You know, I could see SEGA pick up the Mortal Kombat license for some reason, even though they should probably just let the franchise die. How profitable is Mortal Kombat still? Was DC vs. Mortal Kombat a success or a failure? Even so, most of that game's success probably came from the inclusion of Batman, Joker, and the other DC characters.

If Midway was still making Rush and Cruisn' games it'd stink to see them go, looking at MK vs DC its no big deal that they're going though as that game looked like a last-gen game to me. It'd be nice if they could whip up another good MK game and save their ends, by good MK game I mean one with better physics and new attacks, not just re-used variants and screwy gimmics (close combat?).

I hope you mean the good Cruis'n games and not this sorry excuse that passes itself off as one.

The most recent MK games have all sold over a million copies, so there is still a pretty big fan base for the series.

I haven't given a crap about either series in a decade and I'd run out to buy it. With the amount of cash on the table I think they could figure out something that works.
