Unless I get a new console before then, the only new games I'll be buying for the rest of 2008 are:
-King of Fighters: Orochi Saga (PS2)
-Samurai Shodown Anthology (PS2)
-Sonic Unleashed (PS2)
-Tomb Raider Underworld (PS2)
With E3 over, we've get a clear picture of what the rest of the year looks like... which games are the ones that you have to have before the end of the year?
My list:
1. WoW: Wrath of the Lich King (PC) (Beta started yesterday!)
2. Ghostbusters (PS3)
3. Fallout 3 (PC) (because PS3 users screwed)
4. Spore (PC)
5. Rockband 2 (PS3)
6. WWE Smackdown vs Raw '09 (PS3) (unless TNA Impact lets you import CAW music like this will)
7. Bionic Commando (PS3)
8. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (PS3)
Starcraft 2 originally topped my list, but it looks like it's pushed to '09.![]()

Unless I get a new console before then, the only new games I'll be buying for the rest of 2008 are:
-King of Fighters: Orochi Saga (PS2)
-Samurai Shodown Anthology (PS2)
-Sonic Unleashed (PS2)
-Tomb Raider Underworld (PS2)
From the look of it I might get a lot of 360 games:
1) Gears Of War 2
2)Sonic Unleashed(buy 360 version and rent the PS2 version)
3) Ghostbusters (360)
4) Chrono Trigger DS
5)Resident Evil 5(360)
6) Tomb Raider: Underworld
7)DC Vs Mortal Kombat (PS3)
8)Left 4 Dead
9) Bioshock (PS3)
10)Fallout 3
11) Sonic Chronicles
That all I can think for now.
I think the only ones that are foregone conclusions to me are:
Chrono Trigger DS: It's bloody Chrono bloody Trigger. And portable. And not one of these horrific-looking 3D abominations like FF3 and 4 on the DS. I mean, that's just a no-brainer right there.
Fallout 3: A new Fallout game? Made by the people who made Oblivion? Sold. I've gone out of my way to avoid any news or details about this title since its announcement, because any additional information beyond "Fallout + Oblivion" can only serve to increase the pain of not having it yet.
Soul Calibur IV: Say what you will about the Star Wars tie-in and the gratuitous boobage. They had me at Soul Cal in HD. I loaded up Soul Cal 3 for old time's sake a little bit ago, only to find that it looks like mud on my new-since-the-last-time-I-played-it HDTV. The original Soul Cal on XBLA looks better.
Rock Band 2: Rock Band. More of. Want please.
I'll probably wind up picking up Guitar Hero IV once I have real-world confirmation of the reports that it'll be compatible with RB instruments. Spore looks awesome, but that might not be a definite launch-day purchase; it seems like the kind of game I'll want to wait on until I have lots of free time to sink into it. Gears of War 2 I'll probably rent first.
I really can't wait for these games to come out, I'm going to have a hard time figuring out what games to get this Fall. Or I'm going to be really broke.
- Sonic Unleashed (360/Wii)
- Spider-Man: Web of Shadows (360)
- Tomb Raider: Underworld (360/Wii)
- Rock Band 2 (360)
- Lego Batman (360)
- Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (DS)
- Resident Evil 5 (360)
- Guitar Hero: World Tour (360)
Sonic Unleashed (but I'll wait until the reviews come out).(Wii)
Chrono Trigger DS.
Mega-Man 9 (WiiWare)
From what I understand, E3 was not good for many Wii owners.![]()

...pretty much just Spore. Without a PS3 or 360 (or even PS2), there's not much in the way of must-have games.![]()
Since FF4DS is coming out next week I want to get:
In 2008
Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
Disgaea DS
Dragon Quest IV DS
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure DS
A Witch's Tale DS
In 2009
Dragon Quest V DS
Chrono Trigger DS
Spore
Fallout 3
King's Bounty: The Legend
Left 4 Dead
Subtitles provided by Google Translate:
"Serious Sam will crush your sister with the fury of a thousand kitten sharks."
Games I'm 100% certain I want:
Chrono Trigger DS. Next to Final Fantasy VI for the greatest RPG of its time.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Barring a colossal screwup, there's no way playing as Vader's apprentice can not be awesome.
Sonic Unleashed: The 2.5D gameplay sells this for me. Screw the naysayers, screw the past trainwrecks of older Sonic games, this is worth a try.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King: WoW has only gotten more friendly for casual players that don't want to make an obsession out of the game for a long time now. The next expansion looks to offer a lot of plot and gameplay, so I'm in. Also, Paladins are getting changed in a way that I approve of.
Sonic: The Dark Brotherhood. If it's coming out this year, I'll definitely give it a shot.
Starcraft 2: On the off chance it comes out this year, it is THE GAME to have.
World in Conflict: Soviet Assault. Oh, hell yes. If your computer can handle it, World in Conflict is one awesome RTS. Imagine World War III instead of an end to the Cold War, and you have the premise for this game. In the original game the Soviets mount a surprise assault on Seattle, forcing a retreat. You play American forces as you fight to hold back the invasion, and eventually mount a counter-attack. The game employs EXCELLENT balance with an array of different military units. No need for cumbersome resource-gathering, you get reinforcement and tactical aid points as you fight and accomplish objectives. New forces can be dropped into anywhere on the map you control within a few seconds. Tactical aid allows you to call in supporting attacks, from artillery barrages to a nuclear strike. You don't really use nukes in the campaign, though a nuclear warhead is a huge factor in one mission.
Soviet Assault is the expansion to the game, which lets you play on the Soviet side. Soviet missions will be interwoven with American missions, and will apparently offer insight as to the reasons the Soviets launched their bold invasion.
In short, more gameplay for one of 2007's best games. I'm in.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson
...oh, boy...this will be a long list. ...not counting
Tales of Vesperia for the Xbox 360, coming next month. While I don't have a 360, it looks like it'll be one of the better Tales games. The male lead isn't a growing boy, but a more mature lead. Sort of what FF leads were like pre-FFVII. Gameplay looks more balanced than Abyss, so that's a plus.
Sonic Unleashed coming on all console platforms. I'll probably get the Wii version, let's be real. But, the gameplay looks impressive so far, so...I can't pass it up.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Since, BioWare's on board, the story is bound to be good. Going the interactive JRPG route intrigues me, too. I wonder how well Sonic complements that.
Disgaea DS. Didn't play the original. Now's my chance.
Chrono Trigger DS. New script = Buy.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed coming on all platforms, and man does it look awesome. I hope I can get the 360 version when I get a 360...ever.But, the Wii version looks good too. But, it may be meh as a whole, but we'll see.
Mega Man 9.
Others:
Prince of Persia for the 360, PS3, and PC.
Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
Persona 4 for the PS2

Just LittleBigPlanet for me. Soul Calibur IV was originally on my list as well, but it looks a bit ridiculous, so it's been downgraded to a "maybe have"/"must rent."
