Well, I checked out Spike TV's usual rigged video game awards show, and I'm not at all surprised. They should rename the show "How far can we shove our collective heads up MS's ***."
I was checking out the categories, and Spike is doing all they can to give Nintendo the finger. The handheld category, which Nintendo has dominated since EVER, only has ONE Nintendo handheld game: Zleda: Phantom Hourglass. FFT: War of the Lions is on there. Technically, that one shouldn't even count, since it's a remake of a very good, but decade old game.
Then, look at the Game of the Year: EVERY one of the games is for the Xbox 360. Then, there's no Wii games listed for Best Multi-player category, but Wii Sports is listed in Most Addictive Gane Fueled by Dew.
The Spike TV VGA's has about as much credibility as a crooked used car salesman; and trust me, I've known some pretty crooked salesmen.

I don't expect this thread to be open for long. It's the Spike TV Video Games Awards. You make it sound like winning the game of the year here is one of the most prestigious honors any game could possibly hope to recieve.
Geesh people, Nintendo is dominating the console sales, can't you just be happy with that? I'm so tired of the fanboys taking every possible thing to complain about and going a mile with it(for proof, read the Variety Bias thread further down the page).

i see no problem with this thread as long as people keep a calm head and lose the fanboy perspective. it's cool to root for your system, but any insults towards others will result in warnings
Formerly N. Frederick, among a bunch of others.
I don't see why it can't count, it's not a port, it's a remake with a lot of added content.
I would consider the 360 to have better multilayer considering it has a great online service. Gears of War and Halo 3 both have very strong and devoted multiplayer communities along with online offered to most of the games available on the system. Wii has only recently gotten online, and is still shaky on their implementation of it due to limitations like lack of voice-chat and friend codes. It's yet to have a huge multiplayer hit like Halo/GoW, so I can see why it wouldn't make the category. Then, look at the Game of the Year: EVERY one of the games is for the Xbox 360. I think you'd have a hard time arguing against Wii Sports being a great multiplayer game.
It doesn't matter, anyways. SpikeTV is a joke of a network that is sexist against men, and these nominations are clearly more biased than a Microsoft employee would be.

The problem isn't Halo 3 being the ht seller it is, the problem is when people blindly vote for it in categories where frankly other games would do better. What kind of technological breakthrough were ushered in by Halo 3?! Seriously?
Also multiplayer should not automatically mean 'online', as such the Wii should have at least 1 representative in that category, just for the sake of representing the whole spectrum of multiplayer experiences that are available out there.
I think I would be as annoyed if the whole thing was the reverse.
You just have to give credit where credit is due and not blindly assume Halo 3 is the greatest thing since Tetris in everything.

No online, no argument to be had. We're in the day and age where there is no excuse not to have online capabilities and a multiplayer game without online cannot be considered anything but crippled.
I found Wii Sports to be incredibly boring with only one game that was actually fun, that being Tennis.
In other words people are spoiled. Being taunted by a 12 years old from across the world or bashing some 20 something European is considered 'great multiplayer' now, but people forget that in the olden days 'great multiplayer' was being able to enjoy a game with your FRIENDS. In that respect WiiSport can easily be enjoyable with your friends.
Now the fact that it has no online shouldn't keep it from nomination but it is a pretty good reason for it not to win in the face of other game that offer multiplayer that is good AND online.

And me and all my friends enjoy Wii Sports like crazy. The entertainment you can have with Wii Sports and other games like Wario Ware is something you can't experience online. How in the world could you play these types of games online anyway?
Maybe that's just an adult non die-hard gamer talking. Nintendo wants our demographic to get into this system just as much as they want younger gamers. And it's working. Working very well. This is truly a cross generational console and I'm not surprised it's still so hard to find. Not everyone needs online play to find a video game worthwhile.
Besides, who needs to sit in front of a computer to do everything? (imagines the scene with Cartman's mom from "Make Love Not Warcraft". Ick.)

See, when a squeeky voice calls me a wanker, I laugh. It's hilarious. And then you go on assuming everyone you play with online is a stranger. There'a magical thing called friend lists, y'know. I get my friend's gamertag and send him a friend request, without having to type in thousands of numbers, and that's it. And because I have numerous friends all across the country who can't just come over for a good ol round of Gears whenever, having online is not only convenient, but smart. You also ignore the possibility that playing online can introduce you to great people, over half the people on my friend's list I've never met in person. I just played a round online, and they were awesome to play with. There are a million funnier ways I can see my friends make fools of themselves then waggling a remote.
I make a post about how Wii Sports is not that great, and three people responded negatively within ten minutes. Now if I make a thread on how the PS3 has had another advertising disaster(speaking hypothetically here) then those same people plus loads more will come in full force to bash Sony. This forum is so frustrating.
Then take some of your own advice from your previous post. If you're letting the fanboys get to you, then you're "just being too uptight."
Also, from what I read, their responses seemed to focus more on your views on online multiplayer and not necessarily Wii Sports in particular. Wii Sports just happened to be the game that was being mentioned at the time.
I was amused that you managed to sneak a dig in on Nintendo's friend codes though. We wouldn't want to miss any of those opportunities...
