Contenders for Game of the Year

Please save the, "OH MY GOD, IT'S NOT THE END OF THE YEAR YET!" posts. This is just from where we stand and looking at the gaming landscape.... what do you think are the real contenders for Game of the Year.
All that comes to mind for me are:
BIOSHOCK
Mass Effect
HALO 3
Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass

What do you think the other contenders might be?

Smash Bros Brawl, for one. If expansions count World of Warcraft Burning Crusade is up there.

I'll say right now that Starcraft II will take it next year in 2008, so long as it is released by then.

My vote would have to go to Bioshock as of now. Unless it really blows, I don't see how it works. It's a FPS so it's hard to mess up, and the atmosphere looks amazing. Halo 3, if it does come out in '07, would probably win just because it's Halo. Mario and SSBB would also be up there. But I'd still root for Bioshock.

As far as I know, I don't think those games have come out yet. How can we judge them, we haven't even played them?

You're reading the topic wrong. It's just predictions for contenders, not judgements on what will be the game of the year.

And you can predict based on what ya know. And if you don't wanna pick any games that haven't come out yet, then post up games that have landed that you think are potential games of the year.

To be honest, I enjoyed Puzzle Quest and think it will win the handheld, downloadable, puzzle, and casual game awards. While the multiplayer was lacking, it made up for it in terms of gameplay and design.

Here's what else I think:

As far as games that I've played, easily Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Though you can throw me in with the crowd that thinks Bioshock and Brawl will rock hard.

Agreed. I'd like to think it's not just the Nintendo fanboy in me talking, but I think Brawl is going to be the big hit of the season(and ultimately, the year), and it's going to wipe the floor with every other game that dares to even look it's way.

God of War II IS the game of the year. There is not going to be a single game that will be able to compete with it, not even Metroid or Mario.

Oh, and DMC4 has been pushed back until Jan.

Is that Naruto 360 game coming out this year? That looks like the most faithful translation I've seen for a licensed game ever.
