The MAIN reason I would want a PS2 is FFX, I was reading an article about it in, I think it was Anime Invasion, and it went from "I want it to I GOTTA get ii!" In the article, it also said something about FFXI coming out later this year.......maybe.

    To quote the FF commercial:

(Blah blah blah, our game kicks ass, it's the best here's some quotes: Oh! FFX is god! I started a new religion based on it/yevon! I won the game! Now I'm a winner! etc.)

    Don't believe a word...until you've played it.

Yeah...the commercial about sums it up. It's the bestacular FF since 7.

All I know is it looks good enough. It'll probably be better than 8 was(that definately was not one of my favorites). X's gotta be good, right? FF is the longest running game series(I think).
Anyway, NOTHING compares to VI (a.k.a. III)

No, because then I'll amass an army of cactuars and Tonberries and go Omni-slash Bill Gate's ass back to the 8-bit world.

I'm fairly sure that Sony has the exclusive rights....

if anyone else is gonna get into the FF bus...it'll be nintendo...cause I heard that the head Nintendo guy apologized to the head FF guy..I think..

see, the reason FF stopped being on Nintendo systems, is that FF didn't want the games to be on cartrige anymore, cause there isn't as much room. Nintendo kept refusing to go with a disk system, cause they have such slow load times (but they're getting betterer). Now that nintendo has gone disk, we'll see.

I'm sure someone will correct me...

mmm....nope, sounds about right. If anyone, nintendo will probably pick up the rights to any FF games on a console other than PS. I mean, they had a good run with nintendo (FF6) until they started making FF64 (somethin like that...they had some really really early production shots, and it wasn't FF7) but since Nintendo wasn't on a disk system, and there was still confusion/complications regarding the 64 disc drive, Square had enough and just left for Sony. Recently, it may or may not have been miyamoto himself (most likely just a CEO) apologized to squaresoft for being pig-headed and stubborn, things went well, and I believe there are 1 or 2 square games in production for GC. (I don't think they're FF games though) That's about it though. I could be and probably am wrong.

I find it rather interesting that so many people think Nintendo should apologize for not bending over backwards to accommodate Square. There's a bit more to the story of Square abandoning software development for Nintendo consoles. Both companies hold a bit of a grudge against each other.

Square was in the early stages of developing FF VII for the N64 when they decided to move the project to the Playstation for the larger storage space.

When asked his opinion of Square's decision, Yamauchi (SP?) said that some things couldn't be helped.

For some reason Square then saw fit to publicly insult Nintendo and convinced Enix to abandon development for the N64 as well. This is actually the source of the current animosity between Square and Nintendo.

Square now wants to develop games for at least the GBA, but Nintendo refuses to grant Square a licensee unless they produce original games for Nintendo consoles, develop games for the GCN, and apologize for their actions after abandoning the N64.

I would say to go with the system that has more games you want. Right now, alot of PS2's have been breaking down after a few months. I know because all my friend's PS2's have been messing up. If you want it though, I say get it.

FF6 was fantastical. FFX is fantasticaler.
I loved FF6, but FFX was utter crap. I've never seen such a bad game since FF8. I hope FF11 is better...........

In my opinion so far (I'm not done with it yet), FF10 is the most like FF8, which is great by me, since I loved FF8. FF9 really disappointed me though.

I'm curious - what was it about 8 you didn't like?

I still don't get what people saw in FF8, sure it has nice graphics, but it's characters, story, and battle system were awful. It's like one day someone went to Square and said "To hell with story, all we need is for the game to look good!" and this is what came out.

THAT'S IT!!!!! Those are some of the reasons I don't like FF8!

See, I'm just the other way around. I've never understood the criticisms of the game. I thought the characters were some of the coolest they've ever created in the FF series, and I absolutely love the whole gunblade thing. The story is my favorite of all the FFs so far, next to FF7 - and its the only one that's ever truely brought a tear to my eye. And I didn't have any problem with the battle system other than the long summon vids.

See, I don't agree. I think its just how you play it. Personally, since I got sick of the summon vids, I didn't use the summons that much. I focused on the best weapons and leveling up, and I didn't have any problems. Now, you wanna talk dependence on summons, tlak about FF10! That's about all I do in thebattle anymore!
