PS3 GOT!!111 [Question On Gundam]
Finally got one through Amazon... Apparently I had "44:1" odds of winning, so I'm glad I got chosen. Will be here Thursday... Anyways, was wondering if anyone had Gundam... Yes, I know it had terrible reviews, etc. What can I say? I love Gundam. Anyways, I want to know what a fan's impressions of this game would be... I'm already getting Resistance, but I'd like at least a few other games to get, and Gundam has been a title I've been hyped for since they showed those terribly fake CGI trailers. Thanks.

As far as gameplay goes, skip it, it's really as bad as it is
wait for Armored core if you hunger for mecha combat. This really isn't worth your time other than if you wish to see Gundams move in 3D enviroments and act somewhat accurate to their animated counterparts in cutscenes. The story itself is a mere shallow pool soon to be evaporated, it pales greatly compared to the source material(it's not even an enjoyable story like in .hack//Rebirth). This essentialy suffers from the same problems that plaugued the Eureka 7 game. If you absolutely must own it, wait for it to hit the bargain bin. Bandai/Namco really dropped the ball with this one, and I too am dissapointed with it, especialy considering that the ideas would have worked if it were properly executed.
This is coming from a mecha aficionado

^^ Yeah, I guess I'll wait 'til it cheapens then... Hopefully Resistance will keep me occupied for a while. I wasn't impressed with the Motorstorm kiosk demo, but apparently people are going nuts for it on various PS3 boards, so maybe I'll import it and give it a shot. Is the demo online the same as the kiosk one?

I'm not sure, truthfully I havn't watched any kiosks
and resistence:Fall of Man will keep you occupied for a good while. Mutliplayer is better than GOW(but you can't drive vehicles in MP that's the only mark against it). The stages are well designed, Difficulty is challenging, and the AI is the best I've ever seen. Co-Op is good as well(but begin on easy if you're going solo for the first time, difficulty can ramp up fairly quickly)

The Motorstorm demo is godly. Much better than that slowed down POS in the kiosks. That should be the FIRST thing you download from the PStore. Don't import it though. Supposedly Japan got screwed with a half assed game with no online mode. When the game is released stateside it'll have an online mode + other goodies I don't remember ATM.
Me and a buddy have beaten Resistance on two modes now. He owns a 360 with GOW and we both agree that Resistance is a lot more fun to play. It shines in single player as well as multiplayer whereas Gears gets stale after a while. The only con being that it doesn't have online co-op and you can't play any of the online games with a friend. There's also supposed to be a major patch coming soon to make the rankings better and add new content.
GT:HD is gonna be on the PStore by next week too. It'll be more then a demo since PD will be making free updates available all the way up till the release of GT5.
Grats on the PS3 BTW.

^^ Thanks for the info... I've followed the PS3 a lot, but since I didn't actually OWN one I'm still out of the loop on some things... So GT: HD is finally coming out soon, eh? I personally liked the way it's setup... But I'm one of the few. Is there an ETA on a PS3-compatible GH controller? I'm interested in picking GH2 up, but was waiting to hear about that... Also, are PSX games from the PS Store upscaled...or? Thanks again.

GT:HD is actually being released as a free download on the PStore on the 24th. PD scraped the whole micro transaction deal (Thank god) and are just gonna release what they have so far. They're gonna have updates (cars + tracks) available all through next year till GT5.
I've never played GH, but if it's through the USB it should be playable on the PS3. If not I have no idea.
From what I've heard PS games aren't upscaled ATM. Right now they're only playable on the PSP, but there's supposed to be an update from Sony soon to allow the games to be playable on the PS3 also. They'll have to upscale them eventually though. I'm sure they look pretty crappy on a 40+ inch 1080P display. =/

That's cool in regards to GT: HD... As long as I have something from PD to play, I'm fine with whatever...
As for GH... It uses a normal PSX/PS2 slot-style, and the main issue is that apparently there is no way to get past the start-up screen ATM, and that it requires an entirely new guitar controller. I really hope something new comes out.
No upscaled PSX games would really suck :/. I hope they fix that.
Finally: is there any USB or wireless device that let's you use 1/4 or 1/8 headsets that you already own?

...
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I have a chance to purchase it.
(Part of me is: Buy it, don't buy games, put Sony out 300 bucks. Part of me is: Buy it, sell Playstation 2. Part of me is: Buy it, sell it to someone who wants Christmas gift.)

Don't sell your PS2, as some games don't look right on the PS3.
Go for the "Buy it and sell it to someone else," even if you don't look to make a profit.

If you have a USB or bluetooth headset it should work. I've been using a bluetooth cellphone headset on my PS3 just fine. I've also heard that the PS2 USB mic works fine too.
