    X-Box security

I was thinking. It really didn't take long before people cracked the Dreamcast. Of corse the Dreamcast still has one huge security feature which is the GB disc which basicly only Sega has equipment for thus if the DC was still alive big delvopers would most likely still pay Sega so they can have their games on the GB disc instead of the old regular CD. Leaving unoffical software for the DC limmited to some apps, home brew & hole in the wall developers just like it is now.

Anyway the X-box has even less security then the DC. A X-box emulator of the PC wouldn't be too difficult considering the CD32 (a console based on the Amiga) had a emulator for it on the Amiga only months after it launched. I know what your thinking, big deal a x-box emulator wouldn't hurt the x-box. It on it self is no big deal but once there is an x-box emulator it would mean it wouldn't take too long before the x-box security is cracked and anyone can write for it and since x-box uses regular DVDs what is stoping big companies from just relasing it without paying royalties to MS?

PS2 doesn't have this problem due to is uniqe chipset and architecture meaning by the time someone cracks the PS2 the PS3 would be out.

Gamecube doesn't have the problem since it doesn't use standard DVDs so it is kinda like the DC where even if it is cracked devlopers would still probably go to Nintendo since it would still be cheaper then releasing it them selves.

The ps2 has been cracked to some degree- and with the new messiah chip and cheaper DVD burners, more ppl will have access to backups

As for the Xbox, some xboxhackers have discovered how to fully read an xbox dvd game on a pc. Also discovered that each dvd has a unique key that is required in order to unlock the dvd to read it. The guy wrote his own program to give the correct key data and it worked.
Once the bios is fully cracked, this will be a very usefull bit of info
