    Shadow of the Colossus

I played a demo for this game the other day, and it is fantastic! You play as a lone hero in a desolate world and you must search out and bring down huge Colossi (large creatures that look like old mayan statues brought to life) to save your dead love's soul.

There are no "levels" there are no "enemies" all you have is your trusty horse, a sword (which points out the way to the next Colossus) and a wide open environment to traverse. Once a Colossus is located, you must find a way to climb up it's body (not an easy task, you need to hold R1 constantly, so you, the player, feel the tension of attacking a creature while not wanting to let go for your life) Then you have to find weak spots and stab them as hard as possible (theres a charge meter) all the while the creature is flailing about trying to be rid of it's would-be murderer.

The sence of scale is amazing and scope is incredible. This game is a work of art. Everything it wildly detailed, but sometimes its too much for the game to handle. The demo had a hiccupping framerate, something I've heard has been fixed since E3 when this demo was released.

I'm very eagerly anticipating this game. I have so many fond memories of ICO, and this game looks to carry on that game's spirit while still being a new, unique experience. Critical success with this game seems almost guaranteed from the early impressions I've read, I just hope that commercial success will follow. I'd love to see more games like this, and strong sales are the only thing that's going to make that happen.

I didn't think they could make a game that could live up to ICO, but I really think they have with SotC. Seriously, the demo is amazing and the game is simple but at the same time... epic. I really can't wait for this game. The graphics also give any other game out there a run for its money. I could have sworn this was a PS3 game, I can't even imagine what the devs are gonna churn out when they get their hands on a next gen kit.

I'm not even thinking about the next-gen. This, Kingdom Hearts 2, Black, FFXII and World of Warcraft can keep me busy for a long time...
