Psh, wha'the, ga, ah, what....the public doesn't care about the truth!
Yeah, the whole thing is rubbish, really. It all comes down to the parenting.
Finally! Some research that indicates that politicians are full of crap.

What's interesting is that this evidence comes directly from the Department of Justice.

They have the Gun and Firearms department right next to the videogame department in the Walmart by me...
And despite this, I still can't buy music with nasty words in them.Originally Posted by Artimus Gigan

You are right about that. Video games don't influence children to become violent, the children decide on becoming violent by themselves.
Little sister,hits the stage
She can't help it,she's coming of age
Little junior,he's all in a rage
Did you notice she was coming of age

It might be unrelated, but the articles linked in... that article, about kids being arrested for such stupid things...
God I hate authorities.
Reminds me of a scene from that show "Malcom in the Middle." The kids are quietly playing a fighting game, complementing each other on how well they are executing moves on each other. Suddenly, the mother comes along pulling the plug, complaining on how they shouldn't play such a violent game. The kids are quiet, then find themselves fighting because they have nothing better to do.![]()

Yeah, That was a funny episode. True that video games don't make youth violence. Basically it's kinda just a game, You don't see kids actin like gangsters just because of a videogame.
It's really kinda hard to tell. I think for most kids though, videogames don't cause violence. I think it does for a small group of kids that can't handle them or have some kind of problem. Normal kids can handle them fine as long as their parents teach them right from wrong and the kids don't play the games all day.
One thing that I don't like about that article is the criticism that the news media says you get points for killing cops even though the game doesn't have a point system. I hear people defending this game all the time pointing to the fact that the media doesn't know what they're talking about. But, you do get awarded for killing cops. It raises your criminal ranking, which is the closest thing to a point system you have, and the cops also drop money and weapons sometimes, so I'm not sure why it is incorrect to say that you get points for killing cops. I mean, what's the difference between raising your criminal ranking and raising your score? Nothing.
The news media gets a lot of things wrong about this game, but the fact that you're rewarded for killing people is not one of them.
there have been some cases in where a person acually commited grant theft auto after playing GTASA *sees everyone pull out weapons* uhh..its the kids choice to do that. the game diddnt tell him to do it.

You know, I was reading that CBS news article and the last paragraph was interesting to me:
I guess it’s like the difference between working a cheesy airline magazine crossword puzzle versus the Sunday New York Times’ crossword. But I’m not sure video games are as healthy for his brain as crosswords are for mine. And I wonder now where do the “cheats” he downloads “take” his game. Probably not anywhere dangerous, but since I can’t play the game myself, I have no way of knowing -- other than to ask him.
We had a long talk last night about whether the time he spends alone in front of a screen playing games is emotionally healthy. I tried to explain the concept of moral bankruptcy, about how sometimes when I waste time I end up feeling empty rather than full. I’m not sure the conversation will change his habits but it will change mine. Too often I’ve been taking the lazy way out and curling up with a book, but after dinner tonight I’ll invite both my kids to turn off the TV, log-off the internet and play cards or dominoes instead. Who knows, maybe we’ll talk too!
See, this is what I've been saying! She says right in the article she "can't play the game" herself. Videogames are just too complicated for someone who hasn't grown up with them. But, I question how dominoes or cards or a crossword puzzle is more intellectually stimulating than videogames. You know, I one time saw this book being pitched on the Daily Show, I think the name of it was "Everythign Bad is Good For You." And supposedly it talks about how video games are so complex nowadays that it's actually good intellectual stimulation. I haven't read the book, though I would love to get it if I had the money. But, I have to say, playing some video games seem to require at least as much thought as playing cards and dominoes. Hell, you can play cards on Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas!
Wait a minute...she even seems to think that playing cards and dominoes is more intellectually stimulating than reading a book? I'm not sure I'm following her at all. Playing dominoes and playing cards seems to be AT LEAST as much of a time waster as reading a book, more so in my opinion. Actually, I wouldn't really qualify reading a book a waste of time at all.
look at the learning games. look at the kid games. you may not know it but "Bust-A-Move" teaches you stuff. like fast reactions and timing. games like DDR and ITG are weight loss games and GTA gives you street smarts.......i wish.
you get what im saying?
