    Black women in fighting games

    Like This Thread!
Recently I've noticed that there aren't any black females in fightings games (video games in genral). Please correct me if I'm wrong but are there fighting games with black females as playable characters I really can't think of any. While I'm at it I know there are a few hard to think at this time (hey its 1:45am can't sleep my minds not to clear, heck mightbe the reason I came up with this question lol ) but can anyone name some regular video games (other than license games like Catwoman or Matrix) that feature a playable black female as a main or playable character. Thank you very much.

    Le't see:

    Vanessa from Virtua Fighter Series

Elana from Street Fighter III Series

    Storm from Marvel VS Franchises

I'm sure their's got to be some black people in one of the King of Fighters...

And of course, we cannot forget the beautiful Christy Montero from the Tekken Series.

So yes, their are black women in fighting games. Just in the minority. But then again when have their been many video games where a black character was the big focus. Most of our games do come from Japan my friend. And black people don't exactly pop out of the woodwork there.

    What can I say?

    The Def Jam games.

And there's Tekken's Christine (or Christie?) but I think she's Brazilian. Not sure.

Uh... that one girl from SF: 3rd Strike (the one who has the Caopiera style)

That's all I can think of.

Black women aren't really represent in videogames in general.

And add Tanya from Mortal Kombat 4 and Annhilation. I think Jade WAS black starting out, but they changed her to Asian

Storm and I can't believe I forgot about my love (but she is really a comic character not a video game character so I give you hafe credit there lol). Elena (SFIII) its was kind of hard to figure out if she was black because her very light skin, white hair and blue eyes. As least Vanessa has dark skin (another white hair one I see) Jade could almost pass for black at first, never played MC4 so I going give you Tanya. Christy Montero is not black. Def Jam games I won't touch them with a 10 foot pole because they look so stupid.

Yeah I know it there aren't alot of black in Japan but they surely there are but when they make a black male characters you could tell he is black. Now with women they create I see that they have a fetish for black women with white hair and eyes (I most admit Storm top 10 in beautiful comic ladies, Elena very pretty in SFIII but it wasn't until last year that I finally made up my mind that is black). This is kind of silly though the handleful of black women in video games can either barely pass for black or they have white hair and blue eyes (ok its old now). I not trying to turn this into a race thing at all but it was just one of the many silly things that pass through my mind that I need to rant about. So thank you for the replys and I just hope some game developers see this post and take it into mind when making their next game.

Jade is still black (in the recent MK: Deception). Only the movie changed her to Asian. Though before Deception she was just a palatte swap of the white actress that played Kitana and Mileena.

I believe Uhura was featured in "Trek Fighter: TOS" and then shared the spotlight with Lando in "Token Black Battler".

    ...what?

Nobody mentioned Lisa from Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball yet? For shame...

Also, that chick from Eternal Champions.

WHAAAA? I knew from the very first time I saw art of her in GamePro nearly a decade ago that she was black. It's not hard to figure out at all.

And on a somewhat unrelated note, she's one of my favorite SF characters.

I haven't play SIII as much as I wanted and never seen the promo art. The few few times that I played the game the color seemed off so her color to me seem to have ranged from lite tan to a dark tan so she could have been anything. Mommy Tua from Ready to Rumble could pass from black on some tv but she is Asian. Jade really doesn't count because she really just a recolored white character.
