I played this game about 8 years ago and didn't think much of it. I recently played it again and was amazed by its ingenuity. For a game that was made in 87 it is still pretty fun and has a challenge to it. The story gives a greater insight to anyone who has played any of the recent mgs titles. Even though the game is simple it is still addictive and genuine. That is why I am giving it a 4.5

It's a good game, but it has some major problems. The graphics are kinda washed out and lack the variety of MG2. The music sounds rotten as Konami hadn't developed the SCC chip yet, but I was never a big fan of "Theme of Tara" to begin with. And I can't stand this problem the game has with inventory and having you go find everything again if you die. Makes the game nearly impossible. Still its a classic and an amazing accomplishment for the then young Hideo Kojima (it was his first game mind you).
