I don't give a damn what the PSP's price tag is. I'm getting a freaking DS.
Those of you expecting Sony to actually launch a portable system at $350 have just been proven wrong as Sony has now officially released details for the PSP. Troubling for launch system getters is the 6 hours of battery life officially announced for the system, but for the U.S. launch, I believe Sony will be able to

A New Final Fantasy VII Game Has Been Announced for PSP:

New Final Fantasy VII For PSP
From the makers of Before Crisis.
October 27, 2004 - Square Enix announced today the tentatively titled Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for the PSP. Described as an action RPG, this game becomes the fourth entry in the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" project which includes Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII for mobile, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children for DVD and Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus for PS2.
The project is being headed up by some big talent over at Square Enix. Production is being overseen by Yoshinori Kitase, the director of the original Final Fantasy VII, with Hajime Tahata serving as director. Tahata and Kitase served similar roles on the development of Before Crisis. Character designs for the game are being handled by Square Enix superstar Tetsuya Nomura.
Sadly, no further details on the game have been revealed. We expect things to remain quiet for the time being, as a Japanese release isn't due until early 2006.
I don't give a damn what the PSP's price tag is. I'm getting a freaking DS.
If you don't give a damn then don't say anything.
But as of now it proves to be a more credible threat than ever to the DS.
Just because the Japanese price is that low doesn't mean they're gonna sell it at that price.
*hears the bitter Sony haters run scared*
Man, this seals it. PSP will own.
Lord Dalek: You are making a grand assumption based off of nothing. You have no source of reference.
It WILL be sold at a competitive price (as I've been saying all along) and that's the end of it.
*Does a dance of joy*

Either way, that post wasn't necessary, seeing as this is about the PSP. If he doesn't like it, then there isn't a need to post (esp. when he didn't add anything to any form of conversation).Originally Posted by JohnCrichton

Based on the linked IGN article it looks like it will be an additional $45-50 to also get accessories such as the AC adapter, batter pack and headphones.
If you consider it flamebait then report the post. Responding with comments calling the other person "juvenile" and etc. doesn't help the situation.Originally Posted by Invader_Spooch

So if you add everything in, it's still going to be somewhere in the ballpark of $250, right?Originally Posted by William C. Maune
Yep, that's what I assume. My guess is that the $186 Japanese price will translate to a base $199 price point over here. It's $14 more, but it's a nice round number (and then the additional for the accessories).Originally Posted by Lord Dalek
I'm guessing. Although knowing Sony, they'll sell all that after-market stuff at extra price anyway.Originally Posted by Lord Dalek
All I really need is a battery pack anyway, and maybe headphones if it won't take other headphones.
My guess is locally, it will go for $199. Nice, even number, not the insane $350 the pundits were predicting.
Still if it is 199.99 MSRP, that would still give the edge to the DS.Originally Posted by Beatdigga

To all the PSP naysayers:![]()
Seriously though, Sony had me scared there for a moment with being so secretive about the PSP and the lack of SE support. HA! Now the PSP is definitely gonna be competition for the DS and I'm definitely getting one now. Games like FFVII:Crisis Core and Metal Gear Ac!d under the PSP's belt are gonna sell the system for sure.
Before the flaming starts: This is good news for everyone. Sony & Nintendo will be competing for OUR money so this can only mean new and original games from BOTH companies.
Kind of how the $99 price tag gives the gamecube the edge over the PS2(severe sarcasm).
It could go either way at this point, though the only major disadvantage as of yet is the battery life. Hopefully that will be taken care of in time for the U.S. release.
I'm probably going to buy both, but most likely will wait a bit for the DS until games I REALLY want come out for it (I dont really care for the launch titles, but FFIII is looking intriguing).
Possibly. The DS will have the edge on price, but the PSP will have the edge on overall power. The DS will have the innovation edge, but the PSP will have the multimedia edge. The DS still does have the edge on the launch date. With the systems only being $50 apart now, things may now come down to the actual systems rather than price. Pricewise though, we still don't know how the games will compare in price.Originally Posted by Lord Dalek
They are going to lose a hella money.
But if there's any truth to the rumours of increased game prices, then maybe they'll recoup their loses.
AA's are out. Rechargable cells are in. Meaning that whatever cell Sony makes should have enough juice to last.Originally Posted by Invader_Spooch
