    Nintendo DS On Presale @ Walmart.com - $199.82

    Like This Thread!
Got this off of Something Awful a little earlier:

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2432473

    $199.82

Preorder this item today and it should ship on 11/30/2004

Preorder now for November delivery...limited quantities available!
Nintendo's latest innovation, code-named Nintendo DS, provides users with a unique game-play experience using features never before offered by any other home console or hand-held game system. This portable personal entertainment and communications unit provides new perspectives on dual screens, new control using both touch and voice, and new connections with 2 kinds of wireless gameplay.
Weeeeeeeell, what do you make of this? Nintendo hasn't advertised the damn thing at all, but they've sworn up and down that it'll be out in 2004. But then again, thel also promised that N64 would be under your Christmas tree in '95, and that didn't quite work out.

    Thoughts?

Well it could be true. I'm getting a PSP instead so it really doesn't affect me.

$200?!? i thought it was supposed to be $150. it does seem a tad weird that walmart would have it up for presale without any advertising for it at all. well i still look into preordering it? yep

Are you all shocked by this or something?

Pre-orders are a common thing in videogameland. You can pre-order at EB, Wal-Mart, Gamestop...alot of places.

And $200 isn't the final price. They just set it at that for a guess. It's better to refund money than to ask for more.

Maybe I'm living in crazy suprise land, but most video game companies advertise their upcoming systems two and a half months before they ship. And most of the time, said companies announce the launch date and price instead of having a store do it for them.

Evil Dr. Reef, it is still coming this year or there will be many teed off developers and publishers. That's exactly what Nintendo doesn't need.

Also that price is high, it has to be. Retailers can't risk it being low, so they set at the highest point of the price range.

DS will retail at either 129 or 149.

It's entirely possible you know something we don't.

But the latest inside info I heard is that $200 for the DS is pretty close to the mark. Unfortunately.

Now I'm spoiled for the OVA, and I've only watched the original "Bubbles Vanderbilt" series and the followup "Bubbles Vanderbilt Z"

I have another question, as well... what happened to the first two Bubbles Vanderbilts?

There's an ad now....sort of. A poster at most Gamestops that says "RESERVE YOUR NINTENDO DS." Normally though, when it's two months before release and the opening lineup is STILL not announced, it means delay....

Then I bet they debut it one week after PSP, the idiots

I believe the general consensus here on TZ is it's going to retail for $299, but I just finished reading an article where industry analysts predict $249.

My personal completely baseless guess? They'll stay exactly $100 above the DS, so when the DS drops to $149, the PS will immediately drop to $249.

This tactic worked well with the PS2 selling against the Game Cube.

The rumor going around is that, near it's release, the price of the system is going to drop to $159.99. This is only a rumor that I've seen one a few sites and from my friend who works at an EB.

I'm waiting to hear official word for both DS & PSP systems. But next time, Kaiser, you might want to specify which system you're talking about. The thread is about the DS, but a thread above you asked about the PSP.

If that's how much PSP is going to cost, I should just go ahead and buy my class ring.
