    Videogame Music

    Like This Thread!
We know what music does to people. And Videogame music is no exception. Is there some music in a videogame that makes having the game worthwhile?
For me, I love Sonic the Hedgehog music. In every game, there's at least one track that makes me just stop and listen.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1-Starlight Zone, Special Stage music
Sonic the Hedgehog 2-Chemical Plant Zone
Sonic the Hedgehog 3-Ice Cap Zone, sub boss music, Launch Base Zone, End Credits music
Sonic Adventure- Pretty much every song
Sonic Adventure- Once again, every song, but especially Knuckles' songs
-------Also, I don't think anyone here has heard of this game, but the theme song to MAGICAL HAT NO BOTTABI TABO is very catchy. If anyone is interested, that game is for SEGA GENESIS and was released as DECAP ATTACK in the US.
--OK, I'm done talking about nothing. I'm sleepy now and I want my bottle!!!

Another Sonic music fan. All right!

Sonic 1: Marble Zone, Star Light
Sonic 2: Emerald Hill, Sky Fortress, the Special Stage
Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Angel Island Act 2, Hydrocity Act 1, Launce Base, Lava Reef, Hidden Palace, the Special Stage, and Sonic 3 End Credits
Sonic Adventure: Red Mountain, Sonic's Theme, E-102's theme, Perfect Chaos's theme.
SA 2: Escape from the City (ALL TIME FAV), Dry Lagoon, the music in the fight between Sonic and Shadow.

Also, Street Fighter Alpha 3 has tunes I really like. Guy's, Ryu's, Dan's, Karin's, and Zagnief's themes are the best.

Since my favorite games are music/ruthm/dance games, I have a lot of favorite gamesongs.

Parrapa the Rapper - cool funky and funny lyrics!

Dance Dance Revolution - Well I can dance to it on my pad so I love almost all!

    Final Fantasy music

    Some Sonic songs

..and loads of other game music I like!

Final Fantasy music is always great, of course.

I'm also fond of Zelda, and the original NES Mario music. Those simple bleeps and bloops are more memorable than many of the synthesized crap that passes for music today, which is telling.

Also Double Dragon, the original version. Gawd, that was simple but effective.

I love stuff from Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda (Especially Ocarina of Time), but my favorite music is from Chrono Trigger. Mmmm Kingdom of Zeal.

Sonic's good, Zelda's got some great tunes (I especially dig the first dungeon music in Majora's Mask), and of course Final Fantasy has been cranking out great music since the beginning. But I've got to add, the music in Devil May Cry is damned good. Did I mention that I like the game?

The music for Dreamwork's "Medal of Honour", and "Medal of Honour: Underground" is excellent - very very atmospheric, and very reminiscent of John Williams fabulous scores for the Indiana Jones movies - check 'em out!

Creepy...right now I'm listening to a CD full of Sonic music! (Amy Rose's theme, to be exact. I'm resisting the urge to sing along.)

I'm also crazy about the music from any of the Need for Speed series (especially Cold Fusion Power from Porsche Unleashed - play that on a stereo with the bass cranked up and ooooooooh, you are in for a treat!! ). Then there was the background music to Threads of Fate (PS1 RPG game), that was pretty nice too...

Like I said before, video game music has come a long way since the bleeps and bloops in Super Mario Bros. (NES)...
"Pinky, my parents...they're driving me insane!"
"Egad Brain, really? Ooh, well that kinda leaves me without much to do..."

Gran Turismo. For one, I'm a big Cardigans fan and My Favourite Game was heavily plugged with this game (also partly due to the fact that the Cardigans last album was titled Gran Turismo...) All the music and songs are awesome, really goes well with the game...

You said it first - FINAL FANTASY. Nobuo Uematsu is a god of all video games. Final Fantasy VII is the best and a recommendation as a soundtrack to locate if there ever was one. Blinding - get it if you can. Final Fantasy 8 and 9 are pretty good too....

Let's go RETRO, yeah get your emulators out baby!

On the Spectrum, search for a classic of unheard depths NETHER EARTH - great soundtrack - my band were close to covering that one this year!!! Brilliant!

Renegade - Amazing soundtrack, retro in itself and a wicked game!!

Nemesis The Warlock - There are remixes of this soundtrack on 2000AD's website worth downloading. Great on the Speccy 128K and the C64!

    Get lookin!

Oooooh yeah, I forgot about the Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie music. Not only were the melodies solid, but they "evolved" as you moved around! Some instruments would drop in, others would drop out... very, very cool.

    Ah, great topic here!

If you go back to an SNES game called Actraiser, there you will find some of the best video game music I have ever heard. I downloaded all the stages from it from Napster awhile back along with those same themes only done with an orchestra! Great stuff, very fantasy stuff.

If you travel back even further to the days of NES, I have always loved all of the music from the Ninja Gaiden games, preferably from the first game. I have the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy for my SNES and it's really cool to go and listen to that music.

Super Mario Bros. and the original Zelda will always be the ones I think of most. Though I did really like the Game Boy's Zelda: Link's Awakening. It was fun to collect the different instruments and see how each new one affected the song. That was a high point of the game.

The first one I've gotta say before my other favorites in Game music is Final Fantasy. It's incredible! Please be kind to that obvious fact because I've just been introduced to FF music recently by a friend.

And aside from that, anything from the Capcom Fighter games, like the music in general or specific like Ryu's theme, or the other excellent themes that were made for excellent characters that deserved good background music.

I also get adicted to ANYTHING Mario and Zelda.

I love my Sonic 3's "Ice Cap Zone" and "Sky Sanctuary".....

....also, I love the tunes from the Mario games. Especially the first level of Mario 3, the one with the trees that go back and forth, and back and forth,.........................

....................... I spent hours as a kid staring at the TV, swaying back and forth to that beat....................

....................parents never understood me. Even threatened to take the NES away. But, when they were asleep, I would turn it on, and move with the beat. Believe me, I loved that song--> infact, I will download it now.
