    How have cartoons enriched our language by creating or attempting to popularize words or phrases we would not have otherwise used of our own volition?

    These are off the top of my head.

    Simpsons
    Don't have a cow man.
    Eat my shorts.
    Cowabunga!

    Jumanji
    Cool beans!

    Weekenders
    Later days.

    You're forgetting probably the most familiar term that the Simpsons has popularized (although the expression has apparently been around for longer than that): "D'oh!"

    I think that just about every Looney Tune character could have some contribution as well - "sufferin' succotash (sp?)", "be vewy vewy quiet," "what's up doc (probably used well before then too)," for example.
    Be sure to catch 24 every Monday at 9pm Eastern on Fox (and 10pm Eastern on Global). Watch it, because you know you're brighter than Michael Irvin.
