I saw Shrek (immpresions in here, spoilers to)

    Like This Thread!
Okay the first scene was really well done with him reading the fairytale in his outhouse. Then the song que "Hey now you're an Allstar..." We then see a bunch of fairy creatures being sent to their fate, including the Donkey (who Shrek unwillingly saves) After crashing at the Ogre's place, a bunch of other fairy folk appear. Comic hillarity ensues.

Another great part was the part where the Prince (constant reciepient of short jokes) was tormenting the widly known Gingerbread man. They showed the shadow of the Gingerbread man being dipped into milk. Then we see his gingerbread limbs ripped off. The prince tells him to talk but the cookie says

"Eat me" then spits on him.

Affter threatening to rip off his buttons the Gingerbread man talks.

Gingerbread Man:"Do you know know the Muffon man?"
    Prince: The muffon man!?
    Gingerbread Man: The Muffon man.
Prince: Do I know the Muffon man?
Gingerbread: Who lives on Jewrey lane.
Prince: Yes! I know the Muffon man.

    Great stuff.

And their was that other part where the Princess busts it out Matrix style on "would be hero" Robin Hood and his crew. Even fixing her hair while suspended in the air.

The constant Disney shots rivaled even Warner Brothers Animation department back in the early and mid 90's. Everything from the prince (a spoof on Mike Eisner), to the various Disney like fantasy sequences (Mighty Ducks movies, Lion King, Sleeping Beauty goodNESS is nothing sacred?) all the way to his castle (Disneyland right down to the singing dolls, brilliant) Everyone was really well cast Eddie Murphy was a good Donkey (I can see the toys and story books.)

    Okay now to the spoilers...
The revelation of the Princess being an Ogre herself really took me by suprise. Then the whole misunderstanding between Shrek and her, really sad and depressing. They didn't know how much the other loved them, made for interesting stuff.

    End spoilers.

In the End Shrek is definately worth while. Look out Disney a new competitor m,ay be on the horrizon, Dreamworks.

It opened this weekend? I knew something I wanted to see opened this weekend! Of course, I work TWO jobs, so most of the hours I put in at my second job are over the weekend, so I will have to see this one Tuesday or Wednesday and promptly post my thoughts! Till then, no spoliers, PLEASE!

Umm...I'm very sorry, but what is Shrek? Am I a total loser for not knowing? Please tell me what it is. Is it a cartoon or a cartoon-movie, since you are talking about compettition for disney and $42 millions?

It is a CGI animated movie by Dreakworks that spoofs almost every Disney movie ever made. You can check out it's website at www.shrek.com . The movie had the 2nd highest opening for an animated movie, behind Toy Story 2 and beating The Lion King. Looks like Disney finally has some competition.

    yes

What Dick said basically. Yet, it seems sorta more like the Road to El Dorado, then anything Disney might do.

Isn't it Drury Lane? Anyway, I saw Shrek this weekend on one of the digital screens at the Loews on 42nd St back home... I really really liked it. BTW any of you guys heard there's going to be a Best Animated Oscar category starting next year?
