Any comments guys?
Hi i'm new! How's Everyone Doing? This is something i've been thinking about alot lately due to the all the remakes and revamps of all the old cartoons from my childhood.
Its amazing as of 2003 to see commercials or toys or new shows of the stuff I watched as a kid. I don't know what else to say other then wow or cool everytime i see something i watched as a kid brought back, dusted off and set to begin life a new.
So far I have seen the following
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE
While I was never a big He-Man fan as a kid. I saw a couple of the episodes, knew who He-Man, Skeletor and She-Ra are, knew about Castle Greyskull thats about it. It's cool to see this show back, I really enjoyed the three part Beginning story. And have to come to love some of these characters i've seen. (Mer-Man, Mekaneck, Syclone, Moss Man, Orko and others) It's my lil brother who is now the big fan, from the moment he saw it he was captivated and wanted the toys and all the other merchendise stuff. The stories are cool, the characters really cool i'd say this is a pretty good new version. Now like I said before i wasn't a big fan so i can't really truely compare between them but so far it's on my list for sucsessfull remake.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES
I am a huge fan of the TMNT. This was the greatest cartoon ever as a kid nothing ever can compare to it to in my mind. Needless to say i loved the show. But not just the show i loved the toys i just loved the whole concept, mutated turtles, mutagen making other mutants, either a person turning into a mutant (like Hamoto Yoshi becoming Splinter or Bebop & Rocksteady becoming a Rhino and a warthog) to an an animal bcoming a mutant (the four turtles or the four frogs). The whole show was incredible and i scooped every single turtle thing i could find from watches, bed sheets, cookies and i remember making my mom buy boxes of the turtle cereal in LA cuz you coulden't get any in Canada.
Now the new show i'm not that fond of its nothing like the show that i loved as a kid. Its diffrent No Bebop, No Rocksteady, No Krang, its kinda darker and dosen't really appeal to me. Its too bad really i don't like what they did with it. I know its based on a comic that's completly diffrent. But it dosen't do it for me at all. The whole darker storyline ehhh Isn't it a children's cartoon?
WHAT'S NEW SCOOBY DOO?
I think this new show captures exactly what Scooby Doo was all about. Its perfect, Its Awesome and i love watching it. I think they did a great job bringing Scooby Doo to 2003.
TRANSFORMERS
Now its not like we haven't seen Transformers since the old show we had Beast Wars & Beast Machines. LIke with He-Man i wasn't a big Transformer fan but i Think it would have been better to have the same cool people that made Beast Wars remake Transformers imagine how cool CGI cars would be. The anime thing kinda makes me sad.
GI JOE
I have seen the new CGI GI Joe commercials and there are one of the greatest thing I have ever seen for a commercial. I wasn't a big GI Joe fan either but these commercials made me really want a new show looking just like the awesome commercials. BRING ON CGI JOE!! YO JOE!!! Oh and please include Croc Master i loved that toy he was my favourite. And that character was so cool.
CARE BEARS
I watched Care Bears growing up and enjoyed it, and my lil brother enjoys it too now on YTV. So if they want to bring it back I say go for it. Please bring back NoHeart, Beastly & Shrieky.
Strawberry Shortcake
I never saw this as a kid but knew about it as a girl thing. There's a new commercial, toys & a DVD so maybe girls will enjoy it like they did then. Who knows?
I think that there are four shows that would be great to see again would be:
The Real Ghostbusters - This was my second cartoon right next up to TMNT. It be great to see them in 2003 doing their thing busting some Ghosts. "I Ain't Afraid of No Ghost"
Gumby
I'd love to see a CGI Gumby show i think it be awesome.
Rocky & Bullwinkle
This would be a neat show to be updated too.
TinTin
I like TinTin is a very cool show. He goes on these very cool adventures. I think it be cool to see TinTin updated for the 21st Century.
Well thats' my peice of bubblegum on the whole thing.
Any comments guys?
Actually, I like the new Turtles show. I too grew up on the old show and loved every bit of it. But, I always wondered what it would be like if TMNT was a little bit darker. That's where this new show comes in. It stays to the original comics, but still keeps the humor from the original series. I don't mind if some of the old characters from the original series isn't there. This show is still trying to entertain children, but it also appeals to adults as well. I hope this new series tries to have the darkness of Batman: TAS, but keep the humor that made the original series so memorable.Originally Posted by Mondo Gecko
Sure, I'll spread some opinion around. From what little I've seen of the new He-man, it seems to be a pretty decent show, but not something I would exactly want to watch (can't compare it to the original having not seen that one at all). I agree with you on the New Scooby Doo Show being as good as the old one, each with their own similar pluses and flaws. My friend is a really big fan of the original Beast Wars, which was probably the best of the Transformers shows (the ones I've seen anyway. It's intresting to note that Transformers as one of the most artistic changes for it's subseries, from traditonal to anime to even 3-d. I don't think any other series had that kind of range). As for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, yeah that was fun in it's own special way, but the new TMNT show strives for a more serious and dramatic nature not only to follow the comic book roots but to also add some diversity on the mainly cheery Saturday Morning Cartoon front. The rest I've never really seen so I can't compare them, so I'll just end here. Oh and welcome to Toonzone Mondo Gecko.
Gosh I love the TMNT original series to bits, but I HATE all the extra mutants (especially humans who turned into mutants). Watching the Notes From the Underground Arc reminded me far too much of those episodes...
I think Bucky 'O Hare should come back, there should be a new Super Mario Bros. cartoon, a new DuckTales and/or Darkwing Duck, a new Yogi Bear, a new Top Cat, a new Tick animated series, and a new Garfiled and Friends show.
