Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Meet Casey Jones" Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

Today at 10:30 am, the Fox Box airs the TMNT episode, Meet Casey Jones. Here's the talkback.

Raphael is a little cooped up underground with only his brothers and Master Splinter. When Raphael almost clobbers Michelangelo in some brotherly sparring, it's pretty apparent that Raphael needs to get out — let off a little steam. But, when he meets up with Casey Jones, a vigilante erring a little to the right of justice, Raphael must face the reality of his own hothead ways. Luckily, the two hotheads learn to work together when they find themselves in a Purple Dragons' trap set specifically for Casey in the dark, desolate wilds of Central Park.

YOUR BROTHER IS A HUMAN BEING. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT A SCUMBAG. THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE; YOU'RE A DOG. YOUR NAME IS POFFO." - Ronnie Garvin to Randy Savage, ICW Wrestling, 1980.

Raph almost killed Mikey! That was awesomely intense. It looks like Raph has a berserker mode. So far I'm loving the episode but I'm not digging Casey Jone's voice or his line delivery.

I can deal with it though. Because things got better after the second commercial. These actors are new to the characters I guess it'll take me as well as them time to get used to stuff.

Still I really really like this episode especially the last couple of minutes, "I'm the pretty one" "Only a 6 Raph ?" .."It's all I got bro"
    "Uh Oh"

Most quoteable 4 minutes of my life.

I like this episode a LOT but I'm in agreement about Casey's line delivery. It is off tremendously, but I give him time to get better.

I will say that do prefer a COHERENT Casey to the nutjob in TMNT G1. ^_^ I'll put in more input when the ep finishes.

Another great episode. It's going to take a while to get used to Casey's voice though, Elias Koteas' performance from the movies is hard to top for me. That murderous look in Raphael's eyes when he was sparring with Mike was chilling. Funniest part of the episode was Leo doing his split kick three times, don't see him showing off like that too often.

I don't think there's any doubt that this is the best cartoon on Saturday mornings now.

Yay, we got to see Raph use his motorcycle! Good episode in my opinion. And yeah, Casey's voice will take a little time to get used to, but it was the same way with the TMNT's new voices and I'm already used to them.

Today was a very good episode. I'm surprised 4Kids allowed Rapheal to almost kill Mike. How accurate was this episode to the comics?

Another great episode here. They finally build the battle shell and shell cycle, and there was ample character development for Raph. Great to see him and Casey go at it like that.

Yeah, Casey's voice sounds off - actually I think him, April, and Baxter all sound a little too typical saturday-morning cartoonish. Too bad they couldn't borrow Andrea Romano to cast the voices. The turtles and splinter, however, sound dead on.

What's the deal with the elevator? Was it made kinda alien-looking just to be cool, or is this something from the comics that'll be expanded on?

    > It looks like Raph has a berserker mode. <

That's an element *straight* out of the original comics.

    > How accurate was this episode to the comics? <

It's close to being a direct lift from the issue that introduced Casey Jones. They just padded out the plot a bit.

April sounds almost just like her old voice and Baxter...well yeah he sounds stereotypical but that's not really a bad thing. I'ma ctually used to Casey's voice now (afterw atching the episodea agin on tape) it's just his dilevery that was off during his first couple of scenes.

I had a bad feeling people wouldn't like Casey. Oh well, they used cartoon and movie elements of him in this version so I still like him. Anyway, good episode as usual. It did seem odd that they just happen to find that garage. Hopefully they'll explain why it goes underground in a later episode.

Next episode looks really good. 4 stars.

Eh, I wasn't too impressed with this episode. Like said, Casey was a bit off in line delivery, though he wasn't necessarily bad. His back story, if it can be called such, was poorly done and not needed besides since I'm fairly sure they'll be touching on it again later on.

There was also something off with Raph, he was acting like Leo with his approach to Casey and while I know his mood probably helped him act such, he seemed a bit too patient.

Speaking of which, isn't it odd that a ninja with a decade plus of experience was getting beaten (or stalemated, if could be argued) by Casey ? Eh...

The humor, as always, was great. Raph with a motorcycle is a bit cliche, but a cliche is a cliche for a reason: it works.

Well, to be fair, there wasnt much back story at all given and that might have been the point. There is still the possibility that they didnt want to "throw it all out at once" much like they did with Splinters origin and we'll find out more on him later. After all - we dont have all of april's story now either.

There was also something off with Raph, he was acting like Leo with his approach to Casey and while I know his mood probably helped him act such, he seemed a bit too patient.
Raph doesnt have to be a berserker or a wiseass all the time I think the fact that he WASNT this episode fleshed out his character a lot more than what the old cartoon ever did. It kinda shows that when he actually IS thinking he could be just as competent as Leo, but his rage more often than not gets in his way and kills it. Its Raph's initial character focus so to speak. I like that it makes him a little more multidimensional instead of a big green forever angry turtle. But thats just my opinion ^_^

Speaking of which, isn't it odd that a ninja with a decade plus of experience was getting beaten (or stalemated, if could be argued) by Casey ? Eh...
You have to think that Raph isnt exactly at his best when he's uber angry either. Someone in a violent rage that swings wildly is bound to make a lot of mistakes and leave themselves wide open. Casey isnt a "ninja master" by far, but in a good fight if you're swinging blind then you're bound to get hit no matter how much training you have.

The humor, as always, was great. Raph with a motorcycle is a bit cliche, but a cliche is a cliche for a reason: it works.
    Agreed. Gotta love the motorcycle.

This wasnt my favorite episode, by I think it was a pretty good one and I come away with a lot more appreciation for Casey here than old school Casey. Now if only the actor could get his line delivery right...the voice isnt bad and could work with practice. But the dialogue and delivery just felt...odd and repetetive and parts (like "Freaky freakin' weirdo" - who let THAT line slip through? ).

Nice! Casey Jones is back! I liked this episode. I liked how they replaced "hell" with "shell".

I loved it but my tape didn't get the very end so I'll have to watch next week.

There were some good lines in this one, and Mike wasn't too repetitive. They've really worked out Raph's character this time around. It's great!

    "Ah only 6 Raph?" Leo
"Give me a break it's all I got" Raph

    That was classic...

Pretty good episode. Casey's portrayed just like he was in the movies. (Even using the infamous "hockey whack", and the "freak" line.) His voice was A little off, but it sounded good none the less. That secret elevator had me surprised. Hope they explain it's origins more 'cause I'd like to know more about it.

Re: TMNT "Meet Casey Jones" Talkback

Well well, I thought todays episode was awsome. I like how they kept it original idea with Raphael and Casy Jones going. One things still puzzles me still. Want to now more is what was with that funkey door that got them up to the old warehouse? I hopefully they will talk to use more about it. I give todays episode an 8 out of 10.
