    Futurama "Jurassic Bark" Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!
Did anybody else on the west coast see this? I thought that since the east coast wasn't getting to see it, that Fox wouldn't air it, but they did. I missed last week's season premiere because I thought football was going to keep it off cause of the east coast. Guess not.

This had probably one of the saddest damn endings I've ever seen in a TV show or movie. And not sad as in bad, but sad sad. I can see Fry's reasoning for not wanting to clone him. He thought Seymour had a good life after Fry disapeared. But man, that was so sad seeing Seymore wait for Fry all those years until eventually he died.

The humor in this episode was minimal, but I think the ending made up for it. This is why this show is one of the best on TV. Such a shame Fox mistreats it. Here's to it's Cartoon Network run, and maybe future new episodes.

    *sigh*

Nope, didn't get to see it here. Actually I didn't even bother to change it over to Fox. Didn't want to be set up for the disappointment that the FuutBaal Craptacular would be on again...
My origins have been clouded in mystery... some say that I was once a man, known as Hamato Yoshi. Another tale states that I was once merely a humble pet rat of a man named Hamato Yoshi. For the record allow me to state that both are true... and yet, neither is true. Such is the way of Ninjitsu.

Jurassic Barking Up The Wrong Tree

This episode of Futurama was hilarious...and this ending was sadder than the one from the episode where Leela discovers that she's a mutant and her parents aren't dead.

I can't believe Fox is throwing this away (along with Family Guy, Titus, and Greg the Bunny) for unfunny sitcoms and boring reality shows. I can't wait until CN airs this cartoon!

Wow, my Fox provider cares for us at least. They don't show football here after 5 for the past 2 weeks.

I do agree, this was a very sad episode. That song at the end with the dog waiting was alomst a tear jerker. If only Fry would know how his dog felt those 12 years after. It had some comedy but the sad parts and drama parts filled in the rest of the episode, which works very well with Futurama. It kind of reminded me of that episode where Leela learns where she came from and sees her parents again. This is probably close to one of my new favorites.

Did anyone else see Nibbler in the flashback scenes? There was his third eye from a garbage can and his shadow as well as Fry's future shadow in the room where past Fry is frozen. This could mean that Nibbler made him go in for something in the future.

And yes, I can't wait for the Cartoon Network run of the series.

The only time I noticed Nibbler was in the trash can (Thank you Replay! )

Now about the scene with Leela and Kim... WOW!

    Oh... Great Episode...

They showed this in the Philly area on the East coast. Though usually its pre-empted, so I'll be glad when I can catch up on all the ones I missed when it comes to CN.

This episode did have a very, sad tear jerking ending.

Still I think Fry did the right thing, since cloning Seymour at the age of 13 would have him pretty much die again right away of old age anyway. Still it was sad to see Seymour waiting for Fry for 12 years and Fry believing that he lived a full happy life.

The episode also explained why no one bothered to look for Fry and free him after he was frozen. Because his parents are idiots.

Incredible episode! There were laughs aplenty, a piledriver, and another glimpse into Fry's past, including the utter dumbness that is his parents. I got quite teary eyed at the ending of the episode, which is a powerful statement as far as the emotional value of a cartoon. I've lost pets in death before and it just brought back bad memories. I may never see a sadder ending to a cartoon again.

Fox's decision to cancel this series is beyond comprehension. If someone can explain, please do.

Well we at Philly finally got to see a Futurama episode with no 4:00 football game[just as well since we all saw enough football for the day after Donovan McNabb's injury] This is more proof that some of the best episodes are when we look back into the past, it always makes Fry a lot better of a character than the often mindless doofus he usually is [and we see once again just how dumb and paranoid his dad is too, only this time it's Y2K's fault]That made Bender's end of Act II act pretty darn evil even for him, but luckly he made up for it when he realized Fry actually loved the dog and he wasn't just toying with Bender.
Oh, and have you looked back and saw that isn't the first time we've had a sad ending on that show? There's the time Fry got smart and had Leela's love only to be dumped when he made himself dumb again, the time Fry tired to get back his lucky clover from his brother's grave only to find out how much his brother loved him, the time time itself jumped all around and Fry and Leela were married, and when Fry found out how he won her love the crew blew it up, the sequence with Leela's parents, and now this. The list would be sure to go on if FOX wasn't so eager to dump it and have more football on. Stupid FOX...

Another Easter Egg is that Fry's parents are Packer Fans. You could tell my his mother's cheese head and their green clothing. ^_^

Leela and Amy wrestling made me feel funny.......

    >Another Easter Egg is that Fry's parents are Packer Fans. You could tell my his mother's cheese head and their green clothing.

Actually, they were rooting for the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl that was played on January 1'st 2000[they even had it on a scoreboard in the TV] and they may have mentioned them the other time they showed up. But they have cheeseheads like the Packers, so what's the difference?

    >Leela and Amy wrestling made me feel funny.......

Then I dread to hear what you though when Leela nearly ripped her shirt off like Fry did.["Hey, what's going on down there?" would be a good attachment quote that was originally said by Butters in the last South Park episode]

To be perfectly honest, everytime I watch Futurama, my hatred for Fox just grows. This episode is just more proof of how great this show is. This episode had a deep situation with light comedic moments. The ending almost had me in tears because it was so heart warming. With quality writing like this and 2 emmy's under its belt, its really a wonder why Fox won't renew this series.

I feel that this series really needs to be on broadcast television and not on cable. Broadcast television gives shows a special kind of feel to it, like no other television medium can give it. Adult Swim is okay for showing reruns, but I really can't see new episodes debuting on Adult Swim. It won't feel right to me, at least in my opinion.

Leela and Amy....can anyone say "fanservice"?

Holy crap what an episode. We get some laughs, girls wrestling nearly naked, and an incredible ending. I didn't know Futurama could be that serious and pull it off so well but wow. Great episode.
