Pointless Stuff....

Double checked the price of the sole Powerpuff Girls school supplies kit TJ Maxx had---it's $9.99 for the three pencils, pencil pouch case with the girls whaling on the bad guys (incl. Mojo), a Buttercup memo pad, a Blossom pencil sharpener (she's seen touching noses in a cute pose with a bunny....I presume Sharklady would like this item :-), a one-subject notebooks (with the girls playing their instruments) nd two folders (one looks like it might be a standard flying pose, and the other has the girls playing their instruments).

Also, not sure if anyone's seen this episode or not, but a week ago, they showed the Goofy episode "How to be Groovy, Cool, and Fly" on House of Mouse. The episode focused around the narrator noting how unhip Goofy's clothes are, and tries to demonstrate (using the Goof in various scenes) how hip fashion's changed over the decades, with hilarious results....(SPOILERS):





The fashions they showed Goofy in included:
The 60's (guess they figured the 50's was what Goofy was already dressed for/skipped over since they still made Goofy cartoons during that decade :-):
"Beatlemania": Goofy's wearing a Beatles-esque outfit (circa "Hard Day's Night", not their hippie-ish latter look), and playing a set of drums (labelled "The Goofies"; changes to "Help!" after screaming girls tear off all his clothes in a frenzy :-)

"Austin Powers": Goofy's decked out in full Powers regalia...

"Flower Power": Goofy's dressed as a hippie.

The 70's:
For lack of better term, JJ on "Good Times"-ish look: Goofy's wearing an afro wig, one of those flat hats, bell bottom slacks, shoes, and a garish shirt that's unbuttoned (the "better to show off that manly chest hair" according to the narrator :-)

The "Sci-Fi" look: Goofy's done up like Princess Leia from "Star Wars", complete with a light saber ("gawrsh! Shiny!")

And finally, "Saturday NIght Fever": Goofy's done up in full John Travolta regalia, white disco suit and a wig with sideburns. We see him doing the Hustle, Locomotion, and the "Disco Duck" (cue quick cameo from Donald, who's also dressed like Goofy :-)

The 80's:
"Punk rocker": Goofy's done up like a punk rock musician (complete with mohawk); he plays a few guitar chords.

"Miami Vice": Goofy's decked out in pastel colored clothes, sunglasses, and with a brown wig with a ponytail (all a la Don Johnson from said show). Also had a "cool set of wheels" (a Porsche/Lamborghini convertible)...

The 90's:
"Generation X Grunge hackers": Goofy's dressed in a sloppy-looking wig and grunge clothes, holding a skateboard and a computer keyboard.

"Inner City Look": Goofy's done up in "gangsta rap" style---a stocking cap, hooded sweatshirt, baggy pants/sneakers, and gold chains/giant clock around his neck. Gets even more amusing when he tries to start dancing to the rap music beat :-)

Today:
His regular clothes :-)

I remember when we were originally introduced to Disco Duck, by Rick Dees & His Cast of Idiots. For years afterwards, I thought it actually co-starred Donald. Anyway, it's been good to be reminded of House of Mouse; I recall during its first months --- back on the old boards --- every ep was reviewed, & I missed it. Now that KWB no longer has anything worth watching in that time slot, I just might start watching HOM. Thanks for the reminder, Brainatra.

When I was a kid, I thought the Disco Duck had something to do with Donald as well---since the only place I'd seen said song was in snippets on an old LP set of "Disney Characters-themed songs" or somesuch that they used to advertise on TV in the early 80's (incl. "Disco Duck", said time period being when disco was dying off and all...)
