    Clerks animated rumor

    Like This Thread!
I heard (from a friend, whose information is mostly reliable) that Kevin Smith is prepping three new Clerks cartoons for the special edition DVD of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. I don't know if that's true or not, but I am just glad to hear he is already working on the DVD. Maybe this time we won't have to wait 18 months for it!

YES!!! I loved that show, so I bought the DVD when it came out (since ABC cut it for more Who Wants to be a Millionaire ) More episodes would be welcomed by me. Hopefully this'll happen....

Cool! I knew he was planning to do a C:TAS movie, so maybe that project evolved into new episodes.

Stopped by View Askew to find confirmation of this, but I didn't see anything on his plans for the SE of JASBSB. Oh, well, but I did find this valueable post, from Kevin Smith himself....

"'Clerks: Uncensored' (not my title, mind you), moved an impressive hundred thousand units and continues to sell well. Thanks for digging deep into those pockets for that one. Hope we made it worth it for you.

Guess what looks like in may be making a television comeback? Give you a hint: it's the only cartoon we've ever made. I'll let you know more as it develops, but it's all something that kind of came out of the blue with a network it probably should've been on in the first place. Keep your fingers crossed."

So it sure looks like new episodes will be on the way, in one form or another. From the "official" word from Kevin Smith, the TV series will return, but it was good to read the DVD sold so well, as I am sure any future cartoons will end up on DVD as well. SWEET!

This is definatly cool news. I'd love to see more of the animated CLERKS material. There was definatly alot of potential there that was just wasted.

Did you listen to the commentary on the DVD? Kevin Smith revealed plans for unmade episodes that really were painful to listen to because they were so good you wanted to see them. I hope now we get to see them!

Tell me about it. The one where Silent Bob starts working at the Quick Stop sounded like it had potential... Dante and Randal ask him questions, and he answers without hesitation. They're confused, and ask him why he's so open all of a sudden... and Bob says something to the effect of "well, Jay never stopped to ask my opinion."

I wanted to add that I know that there are people who were disappointed with the episodes, saying they weren't faithful to the movie too well, but I have to say that the cartoon gets funnier and funnier with repeat viewings. It works on different levels than why the original Clerks movie worked, but it works very well, IMO.

This is awesome, I always thought ABC was the worst network for a show like this...hopefully it will be FOX (The only place I think animation can survive).

I am not 100% sure which network Kevin Smith is talking about, but my bet is UPN. They were all behind this show from the get go and wanted 13 new episodes straight off. So I wonder if he is in re-negotiations with them?

UPN would be a death wish Look what they did to Dilbert! The only show they have on there that had a good size audience was voyager & now they have Buffy...Besides that, crap.

Oh..and I don't get UPN so it would double suck.

    UPN

I lost all respect for this network when they cancelled Nowhere Man without warning for a block of insipid minority sitcoms. I gained back a little of it when they started airing Dilbert, then quickly lost it again when they pulled that show. I don't think I get the station anymore, but I wonder if their buying of Buffy and the Clerks rumors will rekindle the old dead feelings?

I watched a couple episodes again last night when my sister and brother-in-law came by. You know what would be cool? If these new cartoons were done in widescreen, knowing that they'd 99% most likely be released on DVD anyways.

I lost respect for UPN when they killed off All Souls. I really had high hopes for that show.
