I understand the man's not popular among animation purists, but does every post have to be "he's terrible make him stop"? Thousands of people, myself included, enjoy his shows. Sure, they can get off color at times, but so is South Park and half the shows on Adult Swim. Clearly all the internet grumbling isn't affecting Fox's decisions, so why waste the effort?

Flamebait towards MacFarlane seems to be accepted on the internet, but I think everyone's missing the big picture- don't like it? Don't watch it and move on. I don't like One Piece, but I'm not blasting it on every anime forum because I think it's full of filler or because the dub is bad.

The creator and showrunner of Bordertown is Mark Hentemann so let's not judge so quickly.

I think perhaps people are particularly peeved this time around because Seth's treatment of Texas as the capitol of bigotry and racism smacks rather strongly of hypocrisy, considering that many of the jokes he himself has made about certain demographics and minorities have been every bit as racist and offensive.

For the record, networks like to stick to a winning formula when it comes to shows, and since Simpsons and Family Guy are both about families that get great ratings, FOX insists on picking up more cartoons about families.
I suppose the phrase "Don't hate the playa, hate the game" applies here.

Yeah, I'm not a MacFarlane show fan but he can't really be blamed for the adherence to the dysfunctional family formula, since shows about families are the only thing that FOX really wants on prime time. The FOX animated comedies that weren't domestic comedies (Futurama, The PJs, Sit Down, Shut Up) typically get the red-haired stepchild treatment by FOX, presumably because they didn't earn Simpsons or Family Guy style ratings.

So, does this mean the Flintstones reboot is completely dead?

Pity. I still maintain that whatever Seth MacFarlane did with it would be infinitely better than anything Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera did.

The synopsis of the show in the article actually sounds very similar to The Cleveland Show. And even if it does manage to have a different concept, I don't have hopes it will last long, since whatever made the dynamic of American Dad and The Cleveland Show different usually got diluted as the show went on, making clear Seth can't diverge from his comfort zone even when he tries the slightest.
