What is the best computer animated movie? (this is the one you want to read!)

    Like This Thread!
We have had several so far, and I was just wondering which one you thought the best was out of them all?

    LOL at myself.

I was amazed that Toy Story 2 got 100% of the vote. Then I looked over and relized I was the first and only voter!

I just saw Final Fantasy today, actually. It was very good, but not great. The visuals were excellent, of corse. But, I found it a bit slow, with banal dialogue. Though James, Woods Ming-Na Wen and Donald Sutherland gave excellent vocal performances, I thought Alec Baldwin and the rest were merely adequate. Anyone else think Grey looked a lot like Ben Affleck? I also noticed George W. Bush, Jennifer Lopez and a cameo by Michelle Yoe. The closing shot, of the bird flying over the mountains, was amazing!!!

I'd like to see them do Star Wars Episode 7 in CGI. Mark Hammil can do lots of voices.

Anyway, I just think Toy Story is the most satisfying overall. With the best writing, by far. I barely laughed during Shrek. I remember liking Antz better than A Bug's Life, but I only say each once.

Final Fantasy was okay, the animation still isn't there for people and they often came off as stiff or in some cases their lips didn't seem to sync. I agree Grey looked A LOT like Ben Affleck, which was just one of the many characters who voice did not seem to match up with the appearance of the character (Steve Bushemi(sp?) was the worst!). Also, I agree that the story seemed to drag on.

I voted Toy Story 2, just slightly better than the first.

I'd like to see "Shadows of the Empire" done in CGI. that would be awesome...

Toy Story 2! It's not just the animation, the story and plot counts as well. I like Shrek next.

    I'll pick TS2 though..I love Shrek..but.. TS2.I dunno..I love it..

    BTW-I thought "Antz" absolutely stunk...I just didn't find much about it that I like..or would've liked. I just thought it was a rip-off of "A Bug's Life"..

Personally, I liked Antz better than A Bugs Life. Antz had more action while A Bugs Life is the only movie I've ever seen in a theatre that I actually fell asleep during. i thought it was boring and Stupid.

TOY STORY 2 is the best, in my opinion. I thought it was head and shoulders better than the original, plus everytime I watch it, I still laugh at all the jokes and puns in it. There are so many hidden in-jokes it makes for a real enjoyable watch.

From what I understand, there was an interest in doing an animated version of Shadows of the Empire. Given Lucas is so far advanced in CGI, it would be an awesome animated movie. I don't know if that was just a fan boy rumor, or if there was something real behind it, but maybe someday we will get it.

I saw the trailer for Antz long before I knew anything about Bug's Life, and they both were relased theatrically relatively close, so I don't think Antz ripped Bug's Life off. I just think Disney had more money to pump in to promotion to make people think they were the first with the concept, but I don't think they were. I really don't know which was in production first, but I believe (and prove me wrong if I am wrong...I am going on old memories here) that Antz came first then it was Bug's Life.

Personally, I think Antz had far better writing and dialoge in it, but the plot was so so. Bug's Life had a better plot but lacked, for me anyway, in the other two departments. So I think Antz is slightly more my favorite for the two bug cartoons.

I think ANTZ was released first, threatrically. I am pretty sure it was released in September, and A BUGS LIFE was released two months later in November. I thought both were good, but not spectacular. I found it amusing that Stallone could poke fun at himself like that.

    I'd say--

Antz, with Toy Story a close second. The former was a very interesting allegory of communism and the Russian Revolution in the vein of Orwell's Animal Farm...and TS was sort of an exercise in nostalgia for all of us who ever owned or played with pull-string cowboys, Mr. Potato Head, or toy soldiers. In my days as a columnist for the campus newspaper, I wrote a stellar review for this one, and I'd planned to link to it aqui, but the ASU Herald website seems very badly handled and a lot of the links are sour. Typical for that rag....

Yes, but IIRC, A BUG'S LIFE was in production around the time Dreamworks was about to be created. There was a whole debate about Katzenberg taking the idea when he left Disney.

I have yet to see final fantasy and didnt get to see all of toy story 2,so I guess I can`t vote..personally I think I ALREADY like monsters inc. the most because I just love monsters

I liked antz and bugs life equally for different reasons.Antz was more mature and the insects cooler looking (it really felt like you were watching an alien world to me) but bug`s life was funnier. If you study as much entomology as me you`ll get a lot more gags...its amusing when a kid`s movie hides jokes only adults get,but more amusing when it hides jokes only science geeks will get...

A bit OT, but I recall during the time Ants & A Bug's Life were comming out it was also around the time when Armageddon & Deep Impact, both asteroid films, were being released. It was odd that Disney seemed to be copied twice (In both cases, I liked the non-Disney movie more).
