I recommend you read the story about Sci-Fi's upcoming show, Tripping the Rift, and visit its official site first.
Geez! I was worried this would happen...they beat me to the punch!
Let me explain. I want to say I dream of being an animation creator and director, a la Genndy Tartatovsky and Craig McCracken. I had been developing a series idea for a while, gone through tons of concept and character changes, decided what it should be like(cel-shaded, with my sorta-unique drawing style, action show with a bit of humor till the end, when things get dark.), and did a LOT of drawings.(I still am.)
What sucks is that Tripping the Rift has the same premise as my idea: Freelance pilots doing strange stuff in space every day. If I get the project off somehow(And I know it's unlikely, but I plan to put my heart and soul into it; I'm trying to get into an art college, do a short film to pass the class that is also a concept short for the series, get an agent, and pass around a detailed CD-ROM with music, concept and character art, clips, and info, starting with CN, if they're still any good by then.), I'm worried that people won't watch it because they think it's a Tripping the Rift ripoff.
Or I could be lucky, and Rift could be a failure. But I doubt it....
Sigh...I'm keeping at my project, but now I have to work really hard to make it stand out, now that I've been beaten to it.
Tripping the Rift.
Why does this sound so familiar? Was it ever on Sci-Fi before?
Yes! Wasn't Tripping the Riff, one of thoes Sci-Fi shorts on Exposure??? Wasn't it CGI, it had a foul-mouthed, captian and a smart-alec robot and the evil clown guy? Sound familiar??
Yes, it's the same one. It'll be a series in '03.
