Toon Zone Talkback - "WordGirl" Season 3 Lands on September 13, 2010

This is the talkback thread for "WordGirl" Season 3 Lands on September 13, 2010.

    Vocabulary…. waning.
    Need more….. definitions…. to…. obscure words…..
Look! It’s Wordgirl to the rescue!

Am I nuts for liking this show so much?
I’m really looking forward to a new season.
And a new Pretty Princess episode!

The thing is, being on PBS, I almost expect there would be more vocabulary based villains.
Not that I don’t love the Butcher or Chuck the Evil Sandwich Making Guy, but Lady Redundant Woman and Ms. Question seem to be second tier baddies.
And this new guy, Captain Tangent sounds like a one hit wonder.

Waning - to become less, decline in power, gradually fade away.
Obscure - hidden, not clear or easily understood, not well known.

Stop by the Fun & Games Board.
It's something that somehow still exists!
    Now with
    Become a Superhero
    Guess the show or movie

No, you're not nuts - I like this show too, though I haven't watched it much recently. I think the thing that impresses me most is how sophisticated and self aware the scripts are, considering that this is on PBS. Part of the appeal of the show is how well it points out chiches in the superhero genere, in a way that has probably been making some parents laugh as much as their children. I particularly like the two parter where Mr. Big uses a piece of WordGirl's home planet to neutralize her powers, with his assistant nonchalantly pointing out how big of a cliche it is.

But, really, the show is great all around. The animation is probably one of the best usages of Flash I have ever seen in a show, the voice acting is pitch-perfect, and the villians are hilariously unique. It gets bonus points for incorporating vocabularly words that most kids wouldn't otherwise understand - I'm certain that more than a few kids have picked up some of the words featured on the show. PBS really has a hit on their hands, that's for sure, and it rivals Arthur as my all-time favorite show on that channel.

R.I.P. Batman: The Brave and the Bold - November 14, 2008 to November 18, 2011. May Beware The Batman strive to be even half as entertaining.
