Would ya like to take a survey?

    Like This Thread!
Sorry I just had to make that the title
Anyways, if you could have your own tv station/network, what would you do? What would the theme be? Most importantly, what shows would you play?

Because there's all these complaints about how certain stations suck (lets face it though its true, tv has gone downhill >.< ), what would your idea of the perfect tv station?

Hmm I guess if I make a survey like this I have to give my opinion huh?

Well.. ::random thoughs thought up at 11:00 PM ::
(I'd put more though into this if I had the time^_^)....

I'd make the theme something cartoons of course, it would have to be good though.. hey, maybe something like TZ!

The shows would have to have a lot of thinking put into it, I'd keep my mind open to all shows, not just the new ones. I'd have a certain time of the day where 80's cartoons were played ect.. , and I'd play a variety of cartoons and not just focus on a few *coughs and mumbles something about TT, Nick, and YTV* ^_~

Some random thoughs: Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinky and the Brain (I'm a major fan I have to say that .. they are good though, admit it ), MLP and other 80's, Rugrats, Batman, Ed Edd n Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, Sailor Moon, other Anime shows (though go not to overboard on it like Kids Wb and Pokemon ect.. >.< ) Tiny Toons, some of the older cartoons- real classics , umm.. and a time for animated movies too, and a bunch more.. main idea- variety.

There's my uselessness for the day, hopefully some of you have less random ideas

Well lets see...what would my TV Station be like? Well all cartoons thats what i know for sure! But it would be different types sectioned off by the days. Sounds too confusing eh?
Well heres some of the cartoons that i love that would be on there:
Animaniacs , Pinky and The Brain, Tiny Toons, Road Rovers, and Freakazoid.
Anime would include: Salior Moon, Card Capters, and Tenchi Muyo.

One i also love and would like to include is Reboot
Many other old cartoons that i love would be Care Bears, my Little Pony, Strawberry shortcake and Rainbow brite and alot of Disney movies no sequals just the originals, and many other ones. Thatd be my perfect station

Ah yes, the good old 80's shows, MLP, Rainboww Brite, how I miss them>.<
I forgot about Reboot, havn't seen that in a couple of years now.
Road Rovers, I remember hearing about that, never seen it. Which reminds me.....
This new station would have to play in Canada too!

*leaves before she gets angry about all the good shows being cancelled*

    Want my answer?

Ideally, I'd make anall-anime station. However, that would be a flop due to the still-small anime market in the USA. :/

Therefore, I've designed this setup, intended to be matching to my ideals

It woudl consist of five major sections:

"Morning" would be early mornign, kids-waking time, a time good for more comedic fare like Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain, with one or two action shows thrown in for good measure.
"Midday/Lunchtime" Could be just about anything with so few potential viewers - Therefore, it's a god time to run the REALLY FAR BACK classics, from the oldest Disney shorts to Rocky and Bulliwnkle - That's just a timescale.
From End of School until aroudn 7 o' clock, it looks like "Schools' out," Three hours of action and action/comedy series. Dragon ball? Mabye. Animaniacs? Not enough Action, sorry, but there's a REALLYgood space for it below. Slayers? Heck yeah. Jackie Chan Adventures? Come on in!!! Pokemon? Probably not
From Seven to Midnight, commonly family viewing time, the fare would favor family-friendly comedic fare like Animaniacs and (Of Course!) Earthworm Jim.
And from Midnight to 6, A combination of "Adult Swim" - focused on adults but not including hentai, stuff like uncensored Outlaw Star and a couple classic 80s cartoons thrown in for good measure. Also a time for rerunning, though, AS A RULE, no show would EVER get more then two episodes in a day, and the second would be here only.

A-a-a-a-a-a-aa-a-a-actually, I've already answered this one, but I'm always willing to share my dream again. I have in mind Toon TV, a channel devoted to the entire Warners ouvre, from Bosko to Buddy to Bug's to Bugs to Bunny & Claude to Buster & Babs (no relation) to Buttons to Brain to Blitz to Big Fat Baby & beyond. Proogramming blocks? Well, of courser we'd have to have classic KWB shows in their old slots, maybe with non-WBA guest stars like Earthworm Jim & MIB. Ditto with the Saturday morning stuff. Anthologies like Toonheads & the various director shows would do well where they are on CN, on Sunday nights. After midnight would be what on CN used to be known as Late Night Black & White, only on TTV it would be Black & White Nights & it'd be every night. With the Bosko & Buddy toons added to the mix of course. Color toons from around the same time could be packaged in an early morning program, A Merrie Melodie. Maybe just before the morning Classic KWB. Warners compilation cheater toon features from the '70's & '80's could air around the same time of the year in which they originally aired; I'd just love to see Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet one more time & confirm for myself whether that might not be Honey Bunny making an uncredited cameo at the end. Maybe a toon version of Biography could be made & aired one evening a week. Oh, the Saturtay morning versions of classic WB toons would be cleaned up for the kiddies; grown-up uncut versions would air at other times during the week. The various versions of the classic WB package could rotate (a couple runs Porky Pig Show with original network titles, a couple runs The Road Runner Show w.o.n.t., etc.). Friday nights we could show the real un-pc stuff. And it wouldn't necessarily be limited to the old stuff; I'm sure many of us would like to see the Sonov-Ovich song from Road Rovers or the Spanish Inquisition & Vomitorium sketches from Histeria again. Maybe it could be a round table thingy with toon experts (including certain members of you) discussing the toons before & after the airings. And there would be new material, drawn from fanfics & / or utilizing the talent found here on the net. I already have a board of directors in mind to help run the place too, & they include Brian, Harley, Jon Cooke, Keeper, TwoFace...
If you don't like your options, make another option.

    Well, since you asked...

If I had my own *network*, probably wouldn't just be all-toons...more likely something different/more daring and original than what passes for the usual broadcast TV as it is now... lessee:

Shows all written by a more varied group of writers than the usual Hollywood crowd (read about biased hiring practices against various writers on basis of age/race/gender in Hollywood...).

    Comedies: no laugh tracks.

Dramas: Could pick up and put back into production any # of dramas the networks foolishly discarded and stick them in a stronger timeslot...or foster development of more original shows.
Stronger support than the current broadcast networks give for shows that are truly challenging/innovate/bold (all as in "creative", not bold as in the usual Fox-style idea of "bold" = "Who Wants to Marry a Bigamist Multimillionaire?" or somesuch)

News: A strong news division with high-quality journalism (thinking of "60 Minutes" or "NPR"/"New York Times"-caliber at least). No kowtowing to corporate interests/advertisers' interests in what's reported...

Cartoons: Yes, was getting to this...would want something new and originally-produced, probably in a weekday afternoon and/or Sat. AM children's timeblock. No shows based on pre-existing toys/cereals/video games/etc. Would offer a few shows that actually offered kids something more of a point than smashing anvils to death (though I suppose there'd be those shows too :-)

Late night: if Ted Koppel is still ticked off at ABC, he could jump ship to my network :-) Hmm, for that matter, I'd probably swipe a bunch of other successful stars being ignored by their networks as well...no starting off my network with stuff like "Platypus Man" or "Unhappily Ever After" ;-)

Sports: guess I have to air those as well...too much of a cash cow to pass up....

    Finally, no infomercials ;-)

    -B.

    Re: Well, since you asked...

Egad, Brainatra, if I could do anything about it, I'd have Turner replaced with you. Poit!

Well, since I think 'The All Cheese Channel' wouldn't go over well, it would most likely be populated with A!, P&TB -- the KidsWB I once knew -- along with a slice of Cartoon Network I used to know and another slice of classic cartoons from other studios.

Would make a yummy sandwich, NARF!
Why Brain? What do we want to do tomorrow night? Throw a slumber party?
