Batman: TAS is still the king, IMO.
Though for runners up I'd like to nominate Cowboy Bebop's and Trigun’s.
You know the kind that makes you soil your bottom linens and say.
"Oh yes this is nice."
I'd say Batman TAS (man almost ten years later that thing still gives me goosebumps.)
Outlaw Star has a cool intro.
Silverhawks/Thundercats (the best parts of both shows IMO)

Though I wouldn't call Cowboy or TRIGUN strait Dramas. Anime likes to blur the line between genre's.![]()
I really like the Power Puff Girls intro too.
I agree that The Thundercats intro is the best part of the show (by far.)
I actually like the BB intro better than the BTAS one. That would be the only thing I think BB had over BTAS. It's hyper-kenetic and the CGI and graphics are "shway." Had kind of a Bond-openning-# vibe. But it didn't drag on for three minutes.
tas
i actually think that b:tas intro is rather plain; i prefer the later ones they used to adventures of batman and robin instead. i'll name a few series that is probably not considered "drama" but i think they are worth mentioning.
x-men: the one on fox had some music for the intro. introducing all the characters in the song is very original but the music makes up for it.
exo-squad: great music that goes along with great editing for the scenes that they used. introducing the characters in the song like x-men but it did a better job.
evangelion: i can't seem to get the song out of my head. i don't understand a word of japanese except a few words. i think the overall intro to this anime is unmatched.
You can get the Eva intro subtitled at IGN's anime site completly subtitled. Of coarse the not knowing what they're saying adds to the mystique I guess.
How could I have forgotten the X-Men intro, that totally rocks. I need to go kick myself.
B:TAS

"With my feet upon the ground, I lose myself between the sounds
And open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random, or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going"
-Tool, Lateralus
"Be ashamed to die unless you have won some victory for humanity." -Horace Mann
BTAS will be one of my favorites. Although BB's intro is quite different I also like the hightech feeling it has.
As for anime I also like EVA's intro and I know the song by heart...but don't ask me what they are saying!
aaahhhem...*clears throat*
'Zankoku na tenshi no youni shounen yo shinwa ni nare.'
Cowboy bebop's intro is also really great, kinda James Bondish iMO...
If I dare say...Inspector Gadgets intro and theme is still burned into my mind since my childhood and I still love it! GO GADGET GO!!!

Hmmm...
The 2nd opening for Gundam 0083 has the most stirring, "makes you wanna fight" kind of theme song I've heard.
Revolutionary Girl Utena for sheer trippy.
whoa FISH, don't do that again. your singing is horrible.

Cowboy Bebop is my favorite, also. Whenever I watch the episodes on DVD, I don't skip past the opening.Originally posted by Mr. Obsession

Orathal....You just saw Evangelion? I watched that wwwaayyy back in 1997, 4 years ago. And that intro, it definately beaten by almost EVERY animated show. I mean, I love NGE, and I love the song, but the intro..c'mon, there isn't anything intresting about it. We see Japanese credits, and pictures of things from the show. Which you probably don't even understand the whole 'theory' behind the show. It goes much deeper then just the people in robots fighting Angels. Maybe I'll even start a NGE thread, who knows. But the EVA intro is by far not great at all.
My favourite animated opening is that of Men in Black: The Series. I love the way the music works well with the images on the screen.
Other favourites are The Batman Superman Adventures (again, the music and imagery is great), Cybersix, and Card Captor Sakura (the Japanese version, not the dub).
MiB does indeed have some great music that's integrated exceedingly well with what's on screen. But I'd have to give the ultimate nod to the BB intro... very stylistic and moody while ultra-modern. It blew me away the first time I saw it.
Robert Evatt
You read it... you can't un-read it!
Leapin' Larry JoJo, you like Utena!!?? It's just about one of my favorite animes of all time, and I've never met someone here who likes it!
Rouroni Kenshin has an ultra catchy theme song (I'm still humming it from A-Kon 2001).
I've always loved the Batman intro, even the B/S one the WB did was good. The music wasn't stupid either.
Gundam W's theme song Just Connections is still in my head (another souvenir from A-Kon). That qualifies it as a good intro.
The intro to the animated movie Adolescence of Utena is totally awesome. The backround music (and the gunshots) just makes you want to get into a Fight Club style brawl.
Cybersix is great, though the extended, nonTV version is better.
"Paris is a city for lovers. Maybe that's why I've never been there for more than half an hour."
Humphrey Bogart, Sabrina
I've only seen half of Utena, but it's pretty interesting thus far. It's very stylish and atmospheric.
As for Kenshin...uh...I think the opening is a little too bouncy for my tastes. At least the first one.
I love the BGM for Rurouni Kenshin: Rememberance, though. Again, I highly recommend this short (2 volumes) series to anyone looking for a combination of Japanese history, twisted romance, and great swordplay. Much better than Ninja Scroll in my opinion.
Hatter - Thanks for reminding me of the Batman Beyond theme. I love it, and I don't know why it slipped my mind to include it in my first response to this thread (silly me).
Daughterof_Evil, where would I be able to find the non TV version of the Cybersix theme?
Yeah, Cybersix theme is cool, but Daughter of Evil is incorrect: I think she is thinking about the Canadian (and original) intro, Fox slashed the intro in half, but it's played in full in other countries like Japan and Malaysia.Originally posted by Avran

My friend Frundock (and his wicked site) might have it, but a site I know for sure that has it is

My favorites are Batman:TAS, Batman Beyond, MIB, Batman-Superman Adventures, Superman:TAS, and the intro to Animaniacs was pretty cool too, thats all I can name off the top of my head.
