    2/3 #21 "Johnny's Pet Day / Phat Johnny"

There have been better Johnny Test episodes; "Phat Johnny" didn't quite work. The preceding cartoon was a little better, but not by much. At least we know now what the public awareness of Dukey is set at; it's hard to tell in a show like this. I'm too used to seeing talking dogs appear in cartoons and cartoon humans shrugging it off.

I felt that this was definately one of the weaker episodes of Johnny Test. It wasn't bad, but I didn't enjoy it. I only laughed about once or twice throughout the whole thing.

"Johnny's Pet Day" (3 out of 5): I was trying to remember if anyone knew Dukey could talk outside of the Test family and all of Johnny's enemies. Couldn't think of any off the top of my head. Still, this episode felt weird to me. Especially with the part about being discovered means network execs come looking for him to put him in a reality series.

"Phat Johnny" (3.5 out of 5): A bit more bearable, with Johnny's war on karma. It was amusing to see Susan side with Johnny and not believe in karma (while Mary sided with Dukey and his belief of it). Otherwise, once again devoid of any real major laughs.

"The Revenge of Johnny X" (3.5 out of 5): I should've figured it was a Bling Bling scheme when his robot picks up Mary, spits her out, and then picks up Susan. Still, the inside of the robot is pretty sweet, especially the 'fantasy park' at the end. And I never knew Dukey hated the Super Pooch gig.

"The Enchanted Land of Johnnia" (3.5 out of 5): 'Narnia' parody, huh? Haven't read the book or seen the movie, but this was still fun. Nothing special, but still, I like how Susan & Mary tricked Johnny & Dukey into being their guinea pigs for their boredom-reducing simulator. Didn't see that coming.

Neither "101 Johnnies" or "Johnny Zombie Tea Party" were special enough to merit individual reviews this week. Not much to say when you've got robot copies of robots and misunderstood zombies as the focal points. That, and nothing that really tickled my funny bone this week.

"101 Johnnies" / "Johnny Zombie Tea Party": 3/5.

"Johnny Test in Black & White" (3.5 out of 5): Interesting twist on the whole 'shrinking down to go inside a human' bit. About time the General realized how much trouble the Test kids give him, though.

"Johnny the Kid" (4.5 out of 5): A family vacation (with friends) that gets a great spin and gets nearly everything right. Things really picked up after Whipping Willy and his motorcycle gang showed up. Especially when the Test kids, Dukey, Bling Bling Boy, and Gil all team up to try and stop them. Very funny stuff.

I think you mean Bling Bling Boy and Gil?

It was cute when Mary and Susan hugged Johnny ^^

"Scooby-Doo"? Haven't heard that one before. Where's the guy in a monster costume each week?

Anyway, yeah, last Saturday's episode was an improvement from the last two, and anybody who can't appreciate this series is still wrong.

Johnny has been renewed for a third season, BTW. I'm guessing Cartoon Network will be eyeing this show at some point once it reaches enough episodes to fill a weekday slot.

What I don't like is the new animation. I was expecting it to get better...not get worse --

Things are a bit more stretchy but it looks kinda...wrong.

    Rip-off of Scooby-doo? Wow... that's a first.

Yeah like Scooby-doo is the only AND first talking dog -.-

I heard of Dexter's Lab and Fairly Oddparent rip-off claims but NEVER Scooby-doo! Sheesh.

Hmm Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue is about Scooby a talking dog defeating villains with his pal Shaggy a human who is a teen. That's not like the old series at all, so I don't see why we need this series when we have the orginal....Scooby-Doo was the first succeful talking dog ever as far as I know. And did you say there was a third season? Ahhh!!!

    Yes... that's what I meant.

I don't take the claim of rip-off seriously anymore. Borrowing one or two things from another series doesn't count as a rip-off to me, because every cartoon on the air right now borrows one or two things from any other series that is airing now or has aired before. Originality flew out the door years ago.

Plus, there are other shows that have had a better argument for 'Johnny Test' having ripped them off, and I'm not a supporter of those debates, either.

It helps 'Test' doesn't try to tell the same old jokes and dumb down its material. I'm glad it's getting a third season, though I'd love it more if this show was more fun all the time, instead of what seems like just every other week.
