Very similar to an earlier thread, but:

    1. The Joker (Batman: ROTJ)
    2. Orochimaru (Naruto)
    3. Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
An object at rest cannot be stopped.

Disney has given us a number of truly Evil villains. Among them:

    Jafar ('Aladdin')
    The Wicked Queen ('Snow White')
    Clayton ('Tarzan')
    Maleficent ('Sleeping Beauty')
    Shere Khan ('The Jungle Book')
    Ursula ('The Little Mermaid')
    Scar ('The Lion King')
The Coachman ('Pinocchio'- possibly the scariest of the lot)

    > The Brain(Pinky & the Brain) <

Oh, I disagree. Brain's a meglomaniac, but not devoid of ethics, for there are some lines he won't cross.
    Snowball is eviler by far.

    Adding to the list
    Vicky, Denzel Crocker (Fairly OddParents)
    Dr. Octopus, Green Goblin (Spider-man)
    Dr. Doom (Fantastic Four)
Vega and his henchmen in Goldorak/Grandizer
    Dekim (Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz)
    Queen Beryl, Wiseman (Sailor Moon)
    Infinita (Rocket Robin Hood)
Cyril Sneer (earlier episodes of the Raccoons, they softened him in the last seasons)
    Dr Claw (Inspector Gadget)

This is what I would call 'clumsily evil'. Strange as it may seem for people who haven't seen the show from the beginning, she wasn't always like this. Then the bright (read: stupid) idea was hit upon to make her like that. It is for this alone that I will never forgive the show.

One choice I have...Demona (Gargoyles). If wanting to destroy the human race isn't beyond good, I fail to see what is.
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

I think Darkseid has gotta be the most evil character I've ever seen in a cartoon.

Demona's goals are very evil, but I am still hesitent to call her evil. She's too complex a character. In her twisted mind, when she is not projecting her guilt on others and in massive denial, she thinks she's doing good. Probably what makes her so fascinating to many fans.

Yeah, I think labeling her evil is fair... she doesn't need to be a cartoon cardboard cut-out like Cobra Commander, Megatron or Dr. Claw to be labeled that. She's just a much better "evil" character than anyone else named so far in this thread, because she's wonderfully complex.

That being said, watch out for the not-so-wonderfully retarded Demona apologists out there... they exist, and they're idiots.

What the hell? the freaking PILOT EPISODE of fop was about how evil Vicky was and that was the reason timmy got godparents.

Many things changed about Fop over time, mainly Cosmo's attitude toward his wife and timmy's attitude in general, but Vicky was ALWAYS evil.

Lonestarr (I agree, BTW) said "clumsily evil." Vicky became sociopathic evil. There's a difference.

What about Mumm-Ra? He's willing to destroy not just one, but two planets to kill his enemies, and himself if only because he know he'll survive and be revived. How can you kill an enemy like that who will exist so long as there is even the slightest hint of evil in the universe?

That's one of the cool concepts about the character that makes him so interesting .

No one has included Hao (Zeke) Asakura yet...

...And then there's Dante from FMA... And well, all of the Homonculi, period.

Bart Simpson certainly isn't evil, he's just mischievous. There have been plenty of times where he's overstepped the boundary of playful pranks and done something really disruptive, and every time he's felt bad about it. To me, "evil" means that the character in question is purely out for themselves, with no compassion for other people. Mr. Burns fits that bill, but Bart doesn't.

As for the Brain, he's not really evil either. As he explained in "In the Garden of Mindy" (while trapped in Mindy's "Why? Why? Why? Okay, I love you, buh-bye!" routine), the reason he wants to take over the world is because he feels he's best suited to take command of the unorganized masses. He actually has the planet's best interest in mind, but his efforts are misguided. And besides, as evidenced by the "Pinky and the Brain" Christmas special, he's not devoid of emotions, either.

    Well said J.B.!

Having a diverse taste in animation, is a heck of a lot more fun then only liking one type of cartoon in my opinion.
