Thank you Fox for making it just that much easier to choose what to watch.![]()
I can only wonder how much longer Futurama has...
Family Guy is cancelled.
Why are cartoons always the first shows to go when a network changes their budget?
Worse yet, they'll probably replace FG with "THE COUCH", a clone of The Chair and The Chamber.
Yes, The Chamber is on FOX, but that doesn't matter. They could probably get away with it.
Could the year have started any worse?
(I was kidding about The Couch, btw.)

Family Guy and Adult Swim were made for each other. Hell. Family Guy IS Adult Swim.
And FOX has been selling practically EVERYTHING in the past few months.
If ye asketh for it(oh..and pay, I guess), ye shall receive.
Well I do hope they can get the rights of this show sometime.
I didn't watch Family guy on a regular basis, heck, I only three or so episodes, but the ones I did see were really funny. dammit what the hell is wrong with these people? they keep cancelling thier best shows.
Notice that the two shows put on Thursday at 8:00 and 8:30 got cancelled. We should have forseen this, I know I did.
I was once called Patrick Star....a looooooong time ago.........then I needed a break.
I'd be happy if ANYONE remembered me!
kill the execs!! they are the main reason why tv sucks!
I hate myself and I want to die.
Yay!!! I hated Family Guy. About dang time they cancelled it.

Just as I imagined. Of course, that's to be expected given its competition: Friends (the show's not even that interesting), Survivor: Africa (ditto) and WWF Smackdown (likewise).
Y'know what I think: Fox wanted "Family Guy" and "The Tick" to fail. Look at the facts between both shows: multiple time slots, episodes pushed back, zero ad time. There's no denying it. Someone should start a petition to get this show on DVD.

I just never got that show. Still, in the spirit of prime-time animation, I wish it hadn't been cancelled. I had other things to watch at that time, anyway.

Friends and Survivor are great. But why would FOX want their programming to fail? They wanted less ratings?Originally posted by Lonestarr

Can any of you guys claiming you hated the show please tell me:
What's YOUR idea of a funny show? This should be good for a laugh.

I think it's a poorly designed show. It's loud and gross because it never manages to be funny. It's like it thinks loud and gross is enough. Poor taste is not automatically witty.
It's a series of random pop culture references, zingers, one-liners, and "Hey look, that baby is talkin'!" moments that are only BARELY strung together.
Loud and gross can be funny. South Park comes to mind.
IMO the Family Guy is just loud and gross, and that's all it can be.
Family Guy is NOT South Park.
If you actually think that, maybe you should watch the show again. Cause it's not South Park. South Park is stupid.
And this info came from one of the show's storyboarders.
I know Family Guy is not South Park.
South Park is funny, the Family Guy isn't,never was, never has been, never will be.
What I was saying is that loud and gross can be funny.
Lest someone accuse me of dismissing the Family Guy for those reasons.
South Park=Loud, gross, vulgar. Yet still funny IMO.
Family Guy=Loud, gross, vulgar. Yet still not funny IMO.
The "how to" guide to writing a "Family Guy" ep: A) 1 'edgy' sodomy joke B) say 'penis' about 8 times C) make 2 references to some lame 80's sitcom (I.e. 'Facts of Life'/ 'Different Strokes') D) "borrow" a tried and true "Simpsons" A and/or B story. That's the skinny, if that's funny to you, then knock yourself out pal.
The show has never been funny. I don't know how anyone could
watch past the first couple of episodes. I did watch the first seaon, not fun. The show sucked period. Comedy is subjective, you
like the show,I feel it is the scourge of the earth. It's called an opinion. You have yours and I have mine.
So one of the storyboarders thinks it's stupid and that makes it so. That doesn't pass the giggle test. I'm sure there are more
people on the show that think South Park is stupid, and that makes the show stupid. That's their opinion, not mine. South Park has biting satire,Family Guy just bites. Come up with a more cogent argument next time.
All my opinions come from me,I can form my own.

While the show may finally be cancelled, FOX may air out some of the last few episodes. They're gonna have to becaus eone Temptation Island 2 is done on Thursday nights, they're basically gonna have two hours with nothing on. With Tick, Family Guy, and Temptation Island 2 done with. No doubt we'll see some of that Fvaorite Police Chases or junk like that.
As for funny shows...Futurama, King of the Hill, The Daily Show, and reruns of classic Simpsons episodes (the new stuff doesn't cut it). While Family Guy wasn't my favorite show, it had a couple great gags, like the unforgettable Kool-Aid man cameo in the premiere episode all those years back.

So basically what we're saying here is that South Park is not funny and Family Guy is?

No, I mean my storyboard friend told me the show was cancelled.
And he's out of a job. First lost his job at Zim, now his job at FG.
The least I need to hear is "Yay!! I hated that show". Yay, my friend is screwed and has nowhere to go.
I still don't see why Family Guy and South Park should be used in the same sentence.
South Park's first season was brilliant, but the new episodes are simply not. They lack the social satire that the show was originally built on. Now they just concentrate on adding and then mocking their addition of lame, uninspired characters like Towelie and Timmy. The Looney Tunes/Osama thing was half-decent. But the Afghanistan arc itself was a tired rehash of jokes already made in other shows and websites on the situation.
Family Guy -is- full of references, but what's so bad about references, as long as they're handled tastefully? I haven't seen a parody or cameo that didn't clash with the episode. And I don't get what you mean by gross. Family Guy isn't gross. There's no gross aspect to the show at all. It's vulgar, smart, and funny. While a few episodes are completely hit-or-miss(I'll agree with you on one thing, last week's episode with Brian and the old lady was definitely a Simpsons knockoff), it's one of the funniest shows FOX ever put it. Much much funnier than King of the Hill or The Simpsons.
