TMNT: Fast Forward Episode 1.10: "Invasion of the Body Jacker" (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

Episode 1.10: Invasion of the Body Jacker
Original Air Date: November 11, 2006
    Written by Roger Slifer

In an attempt to obtain O'Neil Tech's greatest secrets, Jammerhead uses the Body Jacker (dirty!) to take over Darius Dun's body! The turtles follow Jammerhead into Dunn's sanctum, and realize that the Street Phantom may be the least of their problems.

Well I'll be -- an actual good episode! Pretty much everything about this episode was good except Donatello yelling "Master Splinter's in trouble!" when they were all ready to go after him anyway. Duh. But the plot was interesting, the climax was climactic, and even "It's Ninja Time!" was used well (and only once). "Raph, that suit was a rental!"

Decent episode. It seems to be developing more and I'm starting to enjoy Fast Forward as much as some of the previous seasons.
Something about Cody Jones' character rubs me the wrong way though.

I hate Jammerhead...and the Street Phantoms are already easy pickings for the TMNT. Looks like they're trying to make Darius a Luthor/Xanatos type though he'll never rival Saki's menace. Overall the villains of 2105 fail to impress me. If only the TMNT could face worthy foes such as Batman Beyond's Blight, Shriek, Curare', Spellbinder, Inque, and The Stalker.

^ You're perfectly correct, that FF could use some upgraded Villains.

But I enjoyed this ep anyway, due to a sprinkling of decent jokes. "Not Leo!" was my personal fave.

Last weeks was better, but you missed it.

Good episode though, but some of the 4kids style voice acting was driving me nuts. In any case, Jammerhead just seems like a filler villain to me. He doesn't seem to have any real ongoing story arc, much like Triple Threat, and unlike Sho'konobo, Darius, Viral and such.

So we finally see April/Casey for the first time in FF, pretty interesting. Darius has the whole police force on his side, so whatever he's planning it'll take the city by surprise.

Those suits reminded me of some of the disguises the Turtles would wear in the original cartoon. Was this the first time, "Turtle soup" was mentioned in this series? If you're going to use puns, use the '80 style ones! "Turtle Power!" beats "It's Ninja Time!" anyday!

Sadly my provider had sound problems durring the whole episode. Sometimes I could hardly hear what the characters said. Still it was a good episode for the most part. Finally an episode where Splinter was actually useful and foght. Too bad he was unter control of Jammerhead.

You know Body swaping episodes where people don't swap voices is actually starting to grow. They use to be so rare.

Not a bad episode. Althought I doubt we've seen the last of Jammerhead. Just how many times is this guy going to get arrested before he's locked up for good?

Oh, and did anyone catch the Jedi reference?

yeah, the Jedi nod was neat but this ep was such a stinker it had slipped my mind to mention it earlier

Isn't this the first time he's been arrested, though? I definitively remember he escaped in the first episode, and I'm pretty sure he had done the same in Playtime's Over.
Anarky: Looks like they're trying to make Darius a Luthor/Xanatos type though he'll never rival Saki's menace.
Probably not, but it doesn't seem to be what they're going for here. So far, the similarities between Dun and Saki are superficial at best—they’re both famous, rich people, and that’s the extent of it. Saki always had more or less a free hand to deal with the turtles, since the only way they could react was by force, which he could almost always match. Dun, however, is much more limited in his actions: he needs Cody on his side to keep his power (which he loses when Cody becomes of age, or if he decides to fire him), which means that, unless he acts by proxy (as with the now-gone Inuwashi Gunjin), the turtles are pretty much unassailable. Not only that, but Saki almost always had a defined goal, be it finding the Utroms, killing the turtles, or building a space-ship. The more I see of him, the more I'm convinced Darius Dun doesn't have a specific plan. He has a fair amount of money, power, and influence, and doesn't seem to be keen to jeopardize it (which Cody's very existence does). A better comparison would be Dun and Season 4 Hun, who also wanted power for its own sake—Hun was simply a better-defined character. In short, Dun is a very different villain from Saki, and should be taken on his own merits. What those are is up to the individual.

More on the episode later; all I have to say for now is that I really liked it.

Eh, the ep was decent, but then I really don't like scenarios like this one as a rule. It accomplished it's goal of making Darius look more like the power hungry scumbag that he is, though.

One bad thing, we didn't get any Serling in this episode! Since they were in the limo at the beginning I figured he was driving it, so I kept expecting him to butt into the conversation with his usual sarcastic pokes at the guys.
Why yes, if I think something's stupid in a plot, I WILL nitpick it to it's base atoms. Got a problem with that?

Good episode, I really like how they are trying to build up the new series and it's situations.

Starlee should have been somewhere in this episode too, mainly because it was about O'Neil tech. I have the feeling that she has the potential to be a really fun character, but they don't show her enough.

She's like the only female we have on the show now that April is gone, I would like to see her play a bit more of a role.

Wasn't he arrested in the first episode of the season? I thought the turtles knocked him out and Biggles went in and made the arrest.

I think he got away while some of the others were arrested.

I re-watched part of the first episode, and Jammerhead definitively escaped--Biggles just arrested the rest of the gang. How they escaped, nobody knows.

    Random thoughts:

Given the pic of April and Casey, it seems that O'Neil Tech started out as somewhat of a garage-shop operation, and that it became a powerhouse in the intervening hundred years. Strange, but perfectly plausible. I do wish we'd seen more of them than a single picture, thought.

Back when Fast Forward was beginning, I spoke about the Peacekeepers and how they seemed to be somewhat corrupt, despite their appearance. It seems some of that corruption has come into play here with their "Peace of Mind" program. Sending all their confiscated weapons to a third party, without (apparently) any oversight? That won't come and bite them in the ass--no, not at all.

No Starlee in this episode? Interns don't get to have any fun. Still, I suppose that given the episode's plot, there was no time to include her without making it essentially a cameo--I know its happened in at least one episode (Starlee was supposed to help design Mikey's new costume in the Turtle Titans episode, but the scene was cut for time).

I took me two see-throughts to hear the "Jedi" joke. I wonder what the turtles would have said, given their Star Wars knowledge.

So I'm the only one who likes Jammerhead, then? I still think he's a dark horse in the TMNT villain pantheon. I mean, how does he, of all people, get his hand on a Body Jacker? Darius would kill for one of those things.

You know what I've been wondering about, in the first episode didn't they mention that Don was a founding member of O'Neil Tech and if so shouldn't Darius reconize him? Also something else I'm wondering about real life turtles have long life spans should the TMNT still have been alive in 2105, I mean that's only 100 years in the future.

The "Peace of Mind" program really makes me think about the situation with Biggles I mean he's a robot and we've already seen that Darius is able to keep an eye on Cody through Serling; so what's to say that he doesn't have Biggles bugged in a similar manner?

Personally I enjoy Jammerhead, although I'd prefer him to be shown as an underling of a more powerful villian; because he really seems like that idiot nephew type of character that some big villian should have gotten rid of a long time ago but can't since he's family, similar to the Big Boss and Berswerker relationship on the old COPS cartoon from the 80's.

Maybe Don was a silent partner. And only Cody knows this because he read those journals.

I agree, though not as action-packed anymore, Fast Forward is a lot more fun.

Jammerhead and the Shriek Phantoms are amusing, though not exactly competent, villains. I have to admit, he used that Body Jacker pretty well. And it created some pretty hilarious situations.

And Darius got away with one there. Like he always does. Splinter's right... the Turles will have to wait for Dunn to slip up for them to make a move. Recycling weapons... a lot of bull Cody's uncle is pitching there.

"Invasiong of the Body Snatcher!": 7.5/10.
