Reboot - Surely someone could finish it

    Like This Thread!
I had a Reboot fest the other night consisting of season 3 and the "movies" ( Daemon Rising and My Two Bobs - Released as movies in UK on DVD ) . I have to say at the end " what happens next? "

I havent been too involved with animation for a while so - Was it left at that? Were there any further eps?
Which one has power over air?

There were supposed to be 4 more episodes, (one more movie) but it was canned after 8. Plus, the original team has fallen apart since then, so don't ever expect to see the last 4 episodes.

Hopefully, someday the plot of the final movie will leak onto the internet someday.

Not to mention it would not be the same without Tony Jay as Megabyte.

Maybe we should just leave it as is and just call it the greatest victory for a Tony Jay-voiced villain. =/

At this point just the entire series being available on DVD would please me. There was a time where I held out hope for a conclusion - but sadly at this point I'm readily accepting the fact that it'll never happen; and if it did...it just wouldn't be the same without the team that made it great in the first place. And of course with the passing of Tony Jay.

I kick myself for not bookmarking it, because I can't find it now...but there was a fellow booter who did a cross country road-trip to meet and interview other booters for a documentary. He met up with Gavin Blair and they discussed what would have happened had they been able to make the episodes - and on his blog for his trip he vaugely wrote (Saving the best for his documentary I'm sure) how it would have gone. I'll try and see if I can find it and post what he wrote about it. Nothing earth shattering, but an insight none-the-less.

There won't be a conclusion considering the split up of the original crew and the passing of Tony Jay. The only consolation we can get out of this is if Gavin Blair and the original Mainframe crew will be legally allowed to post the finale script online. However, there is no word of that happening in the forseeable future.

We can hope, but I wouldn't hold my breath, sadly, doubtlessly because of "creative differences" and money.

As Disney has the first two season's I don't see it happening, sadly.
Not it will most likely do any good, but I encourage any interested parties to sign this petition.

I did not know Disney have the rights to the first two series. I've been asking on another thread about Witch and Kim Possible - the feedback is pretty much they arent going to tear up any trees in the process. A real setback as I want to see em on DVD.

Does anyone in the Marketing Team read forums? hint hint

I don't know that for a fact, so don't quote me on it! BUT, the first two seasons ran on ABC, and as fans of Power Rangers and Gargoyles will tell you, Disney simply don't like to release boxed sets of their "kids' shows" because they make the mistake of marketing $40+ DVD sets to kids. But does seem like a logical reason. I'd love to be wrong.

Or a comic book miniseries or graphic novel. Are the teleplays already written? Even reading them would be better than nothing.

Disney doesn't have the rights to the first two seasons of ReBoot. The series was made and produced prior to Disney aquiring ABC (as a matter of fact, it was Disney that decided not to renew the series after purchasing ABC) - and the rights had been sold off to a now defunct Home Video company who despite their no longer being in buisness held on to their rights to distribute the show on DVD. Last I heard Mainframe suggested Universal Home Video had the rights, likely as a default from whomever owned it prior, but nobody's really saying anything regarding who actually has it. Many have e-mailed Universal and Mainframe, neither of which have given any sort of definative answer.

Disney's name however, has never once been mentioned as having the rights. If they owned any part of the series, it wouldn't have been able to jump to Cartoon Network, nor would ADV had been able to produce Season 3 DVDs and Anchorbay produce a Season 4 dvd.

So the series is in licensing limbo...perfect! it's crap like this is the reason why licenses to shows that were held by defunct companies should never be auctioned off to the highest nameless nobody bidder. Plenty of classic anime have been screwed over like this and we don't need the same for Reboot.

A Reboot comic ala Gargoyles would be great.

Ah, well, at least I'm informed. Thank you for the info. Wasn't trying to delude anyone, just had the wrong info.

One of them is a personal friend of mine, so I know quite a bit about how it was meant to end -- it's really sad that they didn't just wrap it up.

So uh... basically the series' ending that we've all been pining for... was the series' beginning?

Awesome, thanks Noukon! I'd been following the blog for a while, but never bookmarked the link. Then the ReBoot Mayhem forums apparently are down, so I couldn't get to it as I usually would have.

I'm sure it would've been played as a comedic ending, considering how much of the show was comedic/parody.
