I'm still quite confident that, no matter what future we create for ourselves, it will not involve calling video games "vid-games".
Episode 1.05: Playtime's Over
Original Air Date: October 7, 2006
Written by Julia Lewald
Previously, on Fast Forward: Mikey is invited to a wrestling bout by Raph, but reconsiders when Cody introduces him to the future's hottest new videogame, Helix. Oh, and Raph becomes the Turtle Terror, newest champion wrestler.
This week, on Fast Forward: The sequel to Helix is out, so the turtles, Cody, and Starlee all head out to LEVELLEX MALL to buy it (it seems pay-to-download gaming never caught on). Jammerhead (from episode one), however, has other ideas.
Yay for recurring characters! By the way, has anyone by any chance gotten a video capture of the "real" (by which I mean "new") opening? Easily the best out of all the intros in this incarnation of the turtles. And can somebody create a new talkback tag for Fast Forward?
I'm still quite confident that, no matter what future we create for ourselves, it will not involve calling video games "vid-games".
Here's something I'm thinking about...
If the turtles where transported to the future, what was to stop Karai and the foot from Taking over the present?
As much as I loathe this new direction, and can't stand to watch it for too long, at least this one had some fun moments.
'Uh-oh, he's getting that look again...'
I just hope they delve into some of the deeper stuff. Did the Utroms come to Earth and bring all the aliens in? What's that Shredder like robot seen in the previous intro? Is that Bishops voice heard during the 'coming up next week' segment?
As Dr. Light would say, "Dat's a good question."Originally Posted by TheShredder565

THIS MONTH'S UPDATE: Christmas Countdown! 25 Christmas songs of interest.
I would love for when the Turtles to return to the present that it's a couple months after they went to the future so they have to clean up quite a few messes that happened in their absance.
Indeed. The Zeta Project didn't convince me, and neither did TMNT.Originally Posted by SirLemming
All in all I really enjoyed this episode. Much better than last weeks and it was a fun (albeit silly) story.
The fight scene at the end was pretty well done, I'm glad to see they're not shying away from physical contact and blades and whatnot. Good stuff. The Casey Jones reference was also nice, I can see Splinter teaching him not to rely on machinery in the future.
I still don't get what Jammerhead is really about, is he supposed to be one of the "lesser" villains?
In any case, next weeks looks awesome. Torbin Zix and possible first appearance of Bishop.
Fast Foward still has a lot to prove, but it's taking steps in the right direction.
I kind of wish splinter had stayed in the past, anyways the episode was kind of 'mikey is a geek' generic stuff we've seen, I really like starley, i hope we see her more.
Whoa! I missed the show last week, so this was my first time viewing the new intro. Wow, they really crammed a lot into it. Easily better than the first 4 seasons, I think.
Mikey continues to be hilarious, but now he has competition; I actually find Serling to be right up there, perhaps even surpassing Mikey in the humor department. His witty comments just make me laugh every time.

It's kind of like ET, if you take out all of the emotion and turn it into a silly webcomic that's updated on Tuesdays and Thursdays
I can't see the Turtles without Splinter. It's just Splinter has not done much yet.Originally Posted by <<-(SDP)->>

Anarky, you're not the only one who doesn't like this episode. I actually felt bored throughout the whole thing. Heck, even some of the bad episodes from seasons 3 and 4 had me glued to the set more than this.
If this season doesn't pick up steam, Peter Laird could have a serious black eye on his career with this.

But wow, what crappy security that game had. Considering how much security Harry Potter gets, this is just laughable.

I only saw the end of last week's intro, so this was my first exposure to the new beginning. It was decent. In fact, the beginning was the best part of the episode.
I was a little bored seeing the Turtles fight some cyber freaks, and it looks like the gang will have to be acting like the Dukes this season (always running from the cops). Episode 2 has been the best of Fast Forward, and while I'll continue watching it, I truly hope it improves,
College football, basketball, the NFL, the NBA, and MLB. I may not be an expert, but these sports always keep me fascinated if the game is good!

Beware The Almighty Hammer Gun!
Pretty entertaining episode.
Gotta love that Helix is obviously a parody of Halo right down to a master chief like character on the side of the truck. But I guess that might be one of the perks to having MS support.
The preview for the next one was interesting. This Torbin Zix character looks to be a nice addition.

Um...nothing; same as always. Of all the Foot Members, Oroku Saki was the only one who was really interested in world domination--at best, the others' ambitions stopped at controlling the criminal underworld, which they already do, and which the turtles never really cared about post-City at War.TheShredder565: If the turtles where transported to the future, what was to stop Karai and the foot from Taking over the present?
Anyways, a much better episode than last week's. While I don't really much care for Jammerhead or the Street Phantoms yet, I like how they managed to stand up to the turtles without it seeming contrived (except for that part where Biggles didn't recognize Jammerhead, which, while so wrong, also seemed very right, considering Biggles). What I really liked was the interaction between all the characters; they finally got the chemistry right, I think.
While the new series is defintively more stand alone than "retro" TMNT, I'm glad the continuity is still there. There was no reason for the writers to introduce Halo/Helix last episode, but I love that they did.
Four episodes in, and I'm still not sure what to think of Biggles. I'd like to think that the repetitiveness, the lack of imagination, the fact that he's a robot, the fact that he's perfectly willing to let the turtles leave in he can collar someone to take the blame, are all part of a very clever satire on politicians' "perfect policeman". Even if that were the case, he isn't quite working yet. Perhaps if he actually followed up on trying to arrest the turtles, I'd take him more seriously.
Is it wrong that I kinda love Starlee?

Cody, thankfully, I no longer find annoying. He's a bit more mature than Mikey as currently written, and the voice acting is pretty decent. Serling however, was at his worst this episode. Biggles was more amusing than him.
So another episode, another throwaway story. If this is some "calm before the storm" tactic like the early season 4 eps, it's not working. On the flipside, I found this more amusing than the "serious" episodes with the virus and cody's kidnapping.
If Bishop is indeed returning next week, we should finally know if this show is worth sticking around for or not.
Note to self: No More Heroes avatar in use since April 10/2009. Previous avatar lasted 2 years, 9 months and 4 days!!! Holy Stale Avatar Batman!!
They already went over that. It was Codys' fault. Though it would be an interesting twist.Originally Posted by TheShredder565
