Today's cartoons getting censored/ or banned

    Like This Thread!
We all know the classic cartoons have recieved the axe one too many times. But, how many of today's cartoons have had scenes cut or banned. I read at Termite Terrace that when Ren & Stimpy returned several scenes had been cut (such as Stimpy wading through a pool and farting). A lot of Angry Beavers episodes were censored and two were banned, because gun scenes were involved. And, a Simpsons episode was banned from the UK, I forgot the reason though. Any others. Oh, and I'd like to welcome myself to The Warner Bros. Club.

what sucks about the classic cartoons getting cut and censored, tho, is that there was a period where the uncut versions got showed on TV with no problems. And now suddenly they decide they have to cut things and censor them.

Cartoons and TV shows in general will always be cut and censored. That's just a part of the editing process and getting the show ready for broadcast DVD. Should these shows get put out on DVD, I would only hope that they get the deleted scenes added as a bonus feature.

But when it comes to cutting up cartoons that have already aired in a previously uncut form, that's just wrong, IMO. I think fans of those original cartoons deserve to get to see the versions they remember and want to see again.

Actually, we get REN & STIMPY up here in the great white north. Our cartoon network, TELETOON, airs everything uncut. Everything. Which is a nice change. I'm anxious to see what Bugs Bunny episodes Teletoon is getting rights to...

And when I think about it, why do we get it, when America or even foreign countries can't? I agree with calhoun07 that the only cutting end editing should only be done to get the show prepared to air. But after it airs, nothing should be cut. Thank goodness that DVDs will hpefully prove to be a partial solution to this madness...

I like trees just fine, even if they do continuously shed stuff that has to be raked up. And no, I don't mind having tree-scent around.

At least, not trees in their original form. The odor of trees being processed in a paper mill is a whole 'nother matter- that's a reek suffcient to bring property values down. (Yes, I am speaking from experience.)

I like the smell of sawdust.

That be my Useless Fact for the day.
And besides, most people look at this type of topic unrealistically. They are all under the apparent misconception tha--oh, wait. Is my post over? Ah, okay.

Well see like the US we have brodcast standards but unlike the US, the goverment will defent the brodcaster from over protective moms if the show does not break any of the rules.

Oh and some other countries are like us you ever seen French cartoons like Night Hood how about UK ones like the MR.Hell show? do I really need to mention Japan?

    Tree-fold

I've never bothered raking and bagging leaves or grass clippings. They can sit in my yard and rot, for all I care. Let them feed the soil. Same with used catbox litter--I just throw that around spots in my yard that look a little bare. That's my idea of environmental awareness.

That's the sulfur used in the process, isn't it? Sort of like the chemical they use in natural gas (methane is naturally odorless) to make explosive gas leaks easirer to detect.
On tree-scents: there's a pine in my yard which, when I had a menagierie of dogs at my house (a mother Lab and her innumerable children), was a favorite spot for them to sleep under. Afterwards they would come into the house reeking like Christmas. A lovely odor, if rather strong and cloying, but it's murder to get pine gum tar out of dog fur.
