What are the good shows you're remembering?
Are you sure they're not bad now when you take a second look at them?
What is up with toons on Sat mornings now? They are all crap. I turned on the TV this morning, and all I get is crap. Kids Next Door on CN, WITCH/SPD on ABC Fam, Kirby/Ultimate Muscle on Fox Box, Pokemon on WB, where the heck are the good shows?

It won't come to you. You have to look for it.
Try this:

It's really a matter of opinion what is and isn't crap, but media is moving towards a model where you get generic shows for free or you pay a bit more and get what you want.
Crap??
Huh... I like all the shows you mentionned. ('cept KND, but it's not a bad show)
You're pretty harsh. I guess you prefer paper thin plot, uni-dimensionnal characters that never change and stilted dialogue like in the 80s? Or are you the kind who think the Animaniacs are the Gods of Cartoon?
"People who meddle with secret identities get their memories erased."

"You murdered your own alter ego? Sounds socially awkward."
Good gravy, is "crap" your favorite word or something? How about explaining WHY you think the above shows are crap instead of starting out the thread with a flame?Originally Posted by Hades

I can understand if you hate KND (and possibly SPD), but the others are good shows! I honestly don't understand why you think they are EL CRAPPO. Do you just hate Japanese shows and anything with Japanese elements?Originally Posted by Hades
Please state your reasons so I may understand better.
As for the good shows, the best AMERICAN cartoons currently on Saturdays are TMNT and Xiaolin Showdown.
What do you get when you put three friends in a recording booth once a week, screen old anime, and tell them to make sense of it? You get the Anime of Yesteryear Podcast! Tune in each week as we kick back and discuss anime of old, both the well-known and the obscure, as well as our thoughts on the latest developments in the world of comics. (Updates Weekly!)
Are you sure you don't hate these shows just because it's "cool" to do so?
I'm the man with two DeviantArts.
Just look at it this way: Now you can sleep to 12:00 on Saturday like I do.
I watch/record TMNT & The Batman on Sat morns.
i'm not down w/ the rest
then there's Avatar at 1pm on Sat
maybe next Fall will be more to your liking w/ the buzz about Iron Man, Spidey, Wolverine & The X-Men hitting television..although it's likely they'll be Toonami/primetime programming.

Adding my two cents before this thread inevitably gets closed...
I'm not too keen on "Pokemon" and their ilk either (or most of what I see running on Cartoon Network these days), but there are some decent new cartoons on (Kim Possible, Fairly OddParents, to name a few). Plus, have higher hopes for Kids WB's quality this fall, with the debut of some new stuff like "Legion of Super-Heroes" (even with the stupid Superboy-name-change), as well as whatever it is that NBC/CBS will be airing (with their lineup changes)...

Such as letting go of, judging from the signature, the DCAU? ;-)
-B.
Who also liked "Animaniacs", but wouldn't call them "gods"...
All Cartoon Network produced shows have bored me. They don't even compare to Dexter/Powerpuff Girls/etc. in their prime.
All the WB does is desperately try to remake the same shows over and over, (The Batman, ANOTHER Scooby Doo after the last one just failed, Tom and Jerry again, Loonatics which is subpar, etc.)
Is there ANY creativity within the WB anymore? They dropped all their anime to make home-grown cartoons, yet all those barring maybe Legion of Superheroes are horrible and crappy remakes of the classics.
Hell, both WB and CN don't produce anything worthwhile anymore. I think they're better off purchasing shows from other companies.
I know the reason I don't watch as much cartoons as often as I used to was because I got older, and I no longer fit the traditional demographics for your average cartoon viewer. Although I do appreciate Spongebob Squarepants and Justice League. I guess it's just your tastes that can best judge.
Please respect costumed characters. They have feelings like you and me, and half of them may know you personally.
Cool down.
Xiaolin Showdown doesn't suck, watch that.
Pokemon is leaving Kid's WB when WB becomes The CW... iirc.

I know how it is, Saturday morning was the time to get up and watch good cartoons until the people at the head of CN and Nick became idiots. There are occaisionally good shows on but I'm not sure if you'd like them as I tend to have a weird taste in movies/cartoons/music/automoblies.Originally Posted by Hades
I'm inclined to agree with Hades. There are only two cartoons I currently watch on Saturday morning that I find in my opinion to have any quality. Those two are TMNT and Oban Star Racers. I'm hoping this fall will bring something great. Loonatics and Witch were especially disappointing. Bleh.
Loonatics Unleashed isn't a bad show. It does have the same look of another WB show from 10 years ago. Remember "Road Rovers"? As for "W.I.C.T.H." it's sort a knock-off of two shows: Sailor Moon &Originally Posted by DarthNuriko

What Japanese elements? Kirby, Ultimate Muscle, and Pokemon are all 4K!ds dubs, so they removed all the Japanese elements to those shows. Also, them being 4K!ds dubs explains why someone would think they're crap.Originally Posted by veemonjosh
