    Those incredible edible names

*Egghead, that brainy little chicken from the old Foghorn Leghorn cartoons
    *Carrot Top, a prop comedian
*Moo Goo Gai Pan, a villain from Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries
*Napoleon...well, technically the dessert was named after him, but they're both soft and creamy inside
    *Mayor McCheese, politician/McDonald's mascot
*Bubble Gum the Bubble Dancer (a Ray Stevens song)

What kind of desert is called napolean?? I heard of neopolitan, which has chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry all in one. From time to time, I hear it called napolean ice cream, which kinda makes me smile. I am sure the deceased would be ruler of the world would be proud people think of him when they eat ice cream!

Re: Re: Those incredible edible names

A napolean is a pastry made up of two or three layers of flaky dough and cream (and quite delicious, I might add.)
And besides, most people look at this type of topic unrealistically. They are all under the apparent misconception tha--oh, wait. Is my post over? Ah, okay.

    Sugar and spice

Okay for those who don't saw the Garlic Jr. Saga on Dragonball Z (which I didn't see yet), and those who forget some female pop group. there are more names that name by food.

The Spice Girls (England female pop artists)
The Spice Boys (Garlic Jr's Henchmen on DBZ)

this is a little off topic
    General Custard

quote to Custard "I shall Return". A Civil War General

I suspect you're thinking of George Armstrong Custer.
That was the general who, after the north-south conflict ended, went west to fight the 'Indian Wars', and in 1876 was killed, along with all his men, in the battle of Little Bighorn (it was his own fault; he made a disasterous misjudgement about the size of the enemy forces.)

But as best I recall, Custer didn't say "I shall return." That quip is usually credited to WWII General Douglas MacArthur, who was refering to the occupied Philippine Islands, and who did, indeed, manage to get back to 'em.

I know you got that phrase from.

Rocko's Modern Life (one of my favorite nicktoon) when Rocko, Heffer, and the Bigheads froze in the cabin and Ed Bighead made a shadow puppet and Heffer made a funny guess.

Here's another name that goes to the Angel Grove time capsule

A Bulkwitch- Bulk and Skull's big wide sandwitch they made.

    Well--

--if you want to discuss sandwiches named for people
...supposedly they're all named for the Earl of Sandwich, the first man to stick his meat between two slices of bread. Legend has it he created this dish to cut down on the tabletop clutter during his favorite pastime, poker.
There's a type of sandwich called a Reuben, but I forget what's in it offhand.
On project chicks: it seems to me they'd be more down to earth and preferrable to snooty rich girls who actively seek flings with lower-class lovers because they think they can give them something their rich Ken doll boyfriends can't...unless you mean the sort of girl who wears a lot of makeup and jewelry, dyes her hair absurd shades of blonde, and speaks so fast she sounds like Rosie Perez on helium. Those irk me.

The Earl of Sandwich is also famous for being the recipiant of a notably effective come-back, as reproduced below (be forwarned; it's just slightly off-color.)

EARL: (addressing a fellow noble with whom he was feuding): You will die either of hanging or of syphilis!

NOBLE: That, sir, will depend on whether I embrace your ethics or your mistress.

    LOL!

I think you've told that one before...or someone else did; I know I read it online someplace.
Addendum: I finally recall where I heard the line; Kelsey Grammer told it in an episode of Frasier. A story along similar lines: A famous general was once called a b*st*rd right to his face. "For me it was an accident of birth," he replied, "but you, sir, are a self-made man."

Come to think of it, isn't there a Dragonball Z character named Fajita (a tasty dish of steak and vegetables wrapped in a soft tortilla shell)? Though in the dub the j is pronounced; in Spanish, it's rendered with an h sound....why is a Japanese character named for a Spanish food, anyway?

Custer had a field rank of general during the war, but was a lieutenant colonel at the time of his death. MacArthur did say, "I shall return," and he did. The Reuben is named for Reuben's, the restaurant where it was first served. And despite knowing this junk, I can't think of a cartoon character named for food! Do Cow and Chicken count?

There's quite a number of DBZ characters named after food. Kakarot, Broly, Gohan, Pan, Vegeta, etc.

Then there's the panties crowd, aka the Briefs family: Bloomer, Trunks, Bra...

And ChiChi which means father and breasts. Leading up to a serious pondering by the Turtle Elder in the first DB show: What are her father and breasts called?

And I'd thot that little riposte was between Gladstone & Disraeli. Well, shows how much Doonesbury can be trusted. You might remember, way back when Zonker was Viscount St. Austell In the Moor Biggleswade Brixham, when he was attending a session of the House of Lords. I know, pathetic how I remember such minutia, & to make it worse I've always hated that strip. *shrugs*

Hmm, Vegeta, Kakorrot, Garlic Jr,.. why do I get the feeling the creator never liked eating his vegetables? And isn't ChiChis a restaurant chain?

    don't forget!

Stuffy Derma. A character with a segment in The Milton the Monster Show.

What's a Stuffy Derma, you ask? It's a beef casing stuffed with a seasoned mixture of matzo meal or flour, onion, and suet, prepared by boiling, then roasting.
