    Simpsons Voices Get Hefty Paychecks

    Like This Thread!
    From imdb.com.....

Representing perhaps the largest amount of money paid for the least amount of work in television, Fox has agreed to pay the actors who provide the voices for the primary characters in The Simpsons $100,000 per episode. The deal applies to Dan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner and Nancy Cartwright, who play Homer, Lisa, Marge and Bart respectively. Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer, who provide many of the other voices on the animated series, also received substantial raises. The Simpsons was the highest-rated program airing on the Fox network last week, finishing in 30th place.

EGAD! Well, I guess this means that Fox is committed to keeping the Simpsons on for at least a few more seasons, otherwise, why bother with raises if the show is on the way out.

Would be nice if some more money was spent at the production level (i.e. better producer, writers).

More on the Simpsons from AWN, (my preferred news source 'cause they occasionally give me money):

"The new contracts reportedly will pay Dan Castellaneta, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner and Nancy Cartwright $2.2 million per season for the next two seasons, with an option for a third season of 22 episodes at $125,000 per episode. Currently, each of the actors makes $70,000 per episode, a significant jump up from the $25,000 per episode they were making in 1998, when they threatened to leave the show unless they received substantial raises. The article states that the performers also may get a bonus of $1 million that was part of their last contract but wasn't supposed to be paid until 2005. In addition, Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson, is going to receive a first look production deal with Fox for a new show."

    I call Courteney Cox-Arquette!

Of course what I call her is unprintable on this family-friendly board.

Wasn't Lisa (Phoebe) Kudrow in one episode of The Simpsons? So the comparison t'aint far off, bub.

    Simpsons raises

Well, if there is one show in the history of show business that deserves a raise to it's stars is the Simpsons. After watching every episode of the show since pretty much the beginning, the Simpsons voices deserve every dollar they make. It continues to be one of the best shows on tv, even after 19 years. Even with the length of the series, it is twice as good as any sitcom currently on tv and the actors have a major part in it. They put their heart and soul into the show and any other people would not be the same. Dan is Homer in my opinion and when the day comes when he is not around, that is when Homer will not be around. It's like when Mel Blanc or Jim Henson died. To me, that's when Bugs, Kermit and all the other characters died. Imagine someone else playing Homer than Dan Castellaneta? No one else would come close. I think they deserve what they get.
