South Park "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow" Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

    *SEASON 9.5 PREMIERE*

A global warming state of emergency is declared in South Park when the world's largest beaver dam breaks and floods the adjacent town of Beaverton. Who is to blame? Only Stan and Cartman know who's really at fault.
Looks like a parody of Hurricane Katrina =X

    ...I've got nothing.

Looks like it makes fun of The Day After Tomarrow, Katrina, and some other stuff.

the adults just keep getting dumber and dumberer.

but seriously, why would they build a town where their only protection from a massive water flood was a beaver damn?

Mr. Cliche Dissenting Republican made me laugh. And I found the panic scene absolutely hilarious. Hardest I've laughed at South Park in awhile.

Okay, did anyone else attempt to sing along to the "Crab People" song at the end of the episode?

Anyways, while the episode could have been better without the parody of "The Day After Tomorrow", it was still had some good moments with the "Jew's gold" running gag and the fact that Stan's drawing resembles a certain male organ.

I was tempted to sing along, but got distracted by Stan's attempts to tell the truth.

This was a funny episode. The appearance of the Crab People made this episode awesome just by default.

The "Jew gold" wasn't going to be that funny...until it turned out Cartman was right not only about that, but also the "decoy Jew gold."

A fairly dull episode, but fairly entertaining. It had a few good parts, like the parody of action movie panic scenes, the "600 billion" death toll estimate, and the "I broke the dam" ending. However, I did see Kyle actually having "Jew gold" from a mile away.

Anyone else notice the animation getting smoother? Some of the extras even had run cycles for once instead of bobbing back and forth like they usually do. Took them long enough to work with Maya better.

Well according to this production update site Nin-Nan....
    http://www.southparkstudios.com/show/blog.php?tab=10

They did buy new eqipment to help make the animation run faster so I guess it helped improve the technology. Which is good IMHO.

As is this episode. Maybe not the best season premiere or mid season premiere but it had a lot of nice jokes running through it (my favorite not mentioned is the "Two days before the day after tommorow" line and everyone panicking after that). Always also wanted to see more Cartman/Stan intereaction. There's very little of that in most episodes.

Or... maybe they just edited him out... eh...

This episode was unfunny and aggressively stupid. We get it Trey! Global warming isn't happening all at once so it must be fake, right?

And I don't remember people sitting on their asses and playing the blame game during Katrina. Some people were trying to help and some people weren't. The blame game didn't come until two weeks later.

This is exactly like the rainforest episode in that the message being sent is completely untrue and unfunny. I won't say I was offended at this episode (because I'd be retarded for watching this show in the first place if that was the case) but the episode pointed out a lot of flaws in the shows' recent season approach of "skewing" events that just happened. If they aren't done exactly the right way, they come off as tasteless. Score: *.

Nnnnnno... You're taking it a step beyond what they were saying. They were basically just saying that global warming might not be true, wasn't necessarily responsible for Katrina, and, most of all, wasn't the big deal that The Day After Tomorrow made it out to be. You don't have to jump to the conclusion that "it must be fake".

You have got to be kidding me. I'm sorry, but you clearly just managed to avoid hearing that stuff by coincidence. Aggressive blame was being passed around almost immediately after it happened, way before the city was even close to being evacuated. On this forum, even. I exhausted myself trying to get people to stop the aggressive politicizing TEMPORARILY and just focus on the very immediate need to save people from the flood before they died. People didn't listen. It totally happened, man. You just missed it somehow.
