So I wonder if this will mark the end of the series?
Not really...the current writing staff that does the new episodes are also writing the film....Originally Posted by SimpsonGuy100

As a die-hard fan, I should be really excited by this news, but I'm worried. Since the overall quality of the show has dipped in recent years, I fear that the movie might be lackluster and stale. Of course, I hope the writers come up with something great to show us.
eh? I thought this got confirmed ages ago?
It keeps GETTING "confirmed" over and over. I think it's been this way for a decade now.

THIS WEEK: When you think about it, TV shows with cult fanbases have actually returned more times than they haven't. The results have been mixed, but it's a thing, and it totally happens! Join us as we examine many recent examples in..."YOU CAME BACK!"
It was talked about, but never "confirmed".Originally Posted by Matt-a-Tastic

This film has been confirmed to the max!!11
This is good news, yes - but what story can they tell in a movie that WARRANTS a movie? It'd have to be a bigger storyline.
I hope that they bring Conan back to write (or at least assist in writing) this movie. That would be sweet.

That would definately be nice but it IS very troubling that it will be produced concurrently with the series with the same writers. I would like to HOPE that they would only get writers who have been on the series for awhile (Al Jean, John Swartzwelder, Jon Vitti and Matt Greoning) but if people like Kevin Curran (Worst. Simpsons. Writer. EVER.) "pitch in" this could be a disaster.Originally Posted by Artimus Gigan
I really wish they had waited until the series was over to attempt this. I trust Matt Groening though. I just hope the film is under his direct supervision.

The best and least likely thing they could do for the movie would be having Conan O'Brien from 4th season replace Kevin Curran.
Good news I suppose, but should have happened a few years ago. Well, better late then... later.

Hmmm, which movie will have the lamer plot? Aqua Teens or Simpsons?
... I'm going with Simpsons.
heres hoping the movies a Tales of Springfield on a much larger scale![]()
At first I was troubled to hear that they'll be working on it at the same time that they're working on the show. But then I realized, it's not like when the show is over they'll be doing NOTHING other than the movie, so it's just as well. I mean, these people are always doing multiple projects at once. It's always gonna be something.

THIS MONTH'S UPDATE: Christmas Countdown! 25 Christmas songs of interest.
I don't know what to think. It's been announced so many times before. I'm hoping this movie is signaling an ending to the series. I just hope that some really good storyline has been saved for this.
What exactly could they do in this movie? Have the Simpsons save the world from Kang and Kodos? :rolleyes2

Since they missed the opportunity to do this at the height of the show's popularity, they should probably wait until it's been over long enough for people to miss it.
bought time, 14 years waiting for one. could have done 10 or 12 movies by now.
