This is great news. Is FoxBox/4KidsTV a great channel or what?![]()
Actionfigures.com has announced future TMNT toys, but something interesting caught my eye about the show:
"Currently in its third season, the action-packed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series continues to bring the Turtles to kids with an unparalleled blend of action and humor on both the Cartoon Network and FOX’s 4Kids TV. A total of 117 episodes of the series are now completed or in production, taking the Turtles well into 2006".
"During the fourth season, to air this fall, the series will introduce the Mutants and Monsters storyline. The new segment will be threaded through the Playmates Toys product line and marketing efforts, and will culminate with Mutants & Monsters month in October on 4Kids TV"

With 26 episodes a season, Season 4 will end at episode 104. If there are 117 episodes in production, that must mean the show has been renewed for a 5th season!
Also are they finally going to introduce some mutants on the show with the 4th season? Maybe Peter Laird finally mellowed down...

If toy sales continue to do well, this show may actually outlast the original series by episode count. Very good news.![]()
There's already talk of Season 5? Jeez, I haven't even seen Season 2.![]()

Ah crap... Mutant of the week is coming back. I knew it was only a matter of time before they would start to run out of ideas and go the same route Fred Wolf Films did (durring the CBS years). In which case... I may stop watching the show after season 3. I don't want my love of it to be tainted by pathetic story lines based around mutants that are being concieved for the sake of the toyline.

Yeah I'm beginning to wonder if they can continue after season 3. (With this being the final showdown with the Shredder)
I can see them handling the mutants well and not making them campy like the original series.
I mean we've seen mutants in the Notes of the Underground eps, as well as other aliens/monsters in the series thus far that were handled well.
I mean look at Draco, Savanti, Leatherhead, the Triceratons, and the other aliens/mutants/monsters on the series, they've all been written real well.
This could be Bishop's season as well, as he may be using the DNA he extracted from the TMNT to make his "mutants".
I don't think the writers would go "mutant of the week" like the old show, Peter Laird still probably has to approve scripts of the show, I doubt he'd let it get stale.
This is very exciting news. I'm excited that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is getting a 4th season this fall on 4Kids TV. I can't wait
.
I also hope that there is gonna be a Season 5 coming in 2006.
That sounds more logical than running out of ideas.Originally Posted by CyberCubed

This is friggin sweet news. I wonder if season 5 will actually get 26 episodes, or if the series will end at 117. But hey, it'll be awhile till we have to worry about that...
And as blatant as the product/placement and toyline emphasis was in that description, TMNT has been giving us equally cool stories and potential toys for 3 seasons now, so I'll just assume that the "mutants and monsters" storyline will keep up the quality.
Note to self: No More Heroes avatar in use since April 10/2009. Previous avatar lasted 2 years, 9 months and 4 days!!! Holy Stale Avatar Batman!!
Well "Bishop's Season" seems much more likely. I'm not saying it'll be campy mutants though. But the concept is basically there to expand the toyline. I didn't like the Underground arc of the new TMNT. Humans turning into mutants (that look like mutants) wierds me out. X-Men is usually okay and the TMNT were always turtles but I don't like it when humans go through mutation and become "monsters". It's sad and creepy.

Couldn't possibly disagree more. I live for weird creatures, and if TMNT brings back that weekly mutant formula, I'll probably end up a MUCH more active fan. It's the writing that really matters in the end, and the series has proven since the first episode that its writing is deeper and more imaginative than the old series.Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei
I never could get into the X-men specifically because I find it so darn boring for mutation to simply equal superpowers. Hideous malformities are where it's really at!

Besides, this is a different team from the old show. Maybe they could make it work.
"The advance is hip right now, but the original has a place in my heart, unlike pocket which only had the plastic grey, though color had killer appies for things like the sewing machine, not much use for virtual anymore, huh."
Bebop and Rocksteady you will not get. Maybe a homage to them though but it wouldn't be more than a cameo shot type homage since Fred Wolf Films owns the rights to Bebop, Rocksteady (and Krang for that matter).
I think Slash has the highest possibility. Taking the TMNT's DNA and not making Slash is well... a waste of great potential.
Is it so wrong not to like watching humans turn into monsters? Sheesh... No one deserves to be turned into a "monster". Mutant of the week got old fast with the original show. I imagine it'll do the same with this show. But I'm glad they've waited 3 whole seasons before really pulling out of the Mirage storylines (which I think are great). Not much of season 3 was related to the old comics but Renet and company were.
The mutants on the new TMNT wont be goofy... Well... I guess Quarry was a little goofy at one point (being scarred of everything and squeeling like Michelangelo and such) but overall the mutants in the new TMNT have been very hardcore and well designed. Still... I don't like the concept of basing a whole season on mutants but I guess after Shredder is gone you've got to do something. Hopefully (and most likely) Bishop will play a major role. He's just amazingly awesome. Mutants are my least favorite part of TMNT though and always will be. None the less I wont hate the show for doing an extended mutants and monsters story arc it will just be my least favorite part of the series and I may not watch it. But that's none of your business so don't rag on me for not liking mutantation based storylines used to extend the toy line. I didn't say you couldn't watch, I just said I might not.

I think y'all may be overreacting a bit here. There's nothing in that blurb, aside from synergystic marketing, indicating that Mutants and Mosters is anything besides just another multiparter. Remember, when Season 3 rumors first started flying around, the only thing mentioned was the Triceraton Invasion; important, yes, but still only a six-parter. Also, if the season begins on mid-September and the storyline culminates on October, then that means it's a seven-parter at the very most. I don't think there's reason to fear a shark jump just yet.
Mirage still owns the rights to pretty much every character on the original series. Even if Fred Wolf Films and Artisan created some of these mutants, the new show writers could still use them if they want.Originally Posted by Hyper Sensei

Sure, the new show writers may not use them, but there is nothing preventing them copyright wise. Mirage and 4kids wouldn't have to pay royalties or anything of the sort, the only thing preventing their appearace is Peter Laird himself, because he didn't want the new show to become "goofy".
More TMNT means nothing but good stuff to me, especially know that I'm all caught up on all the current events. I hope they do add more mutants maybe even getting the guys some girlfriends.
Who knows what is really real..... that's the true question in life.
That's rather unusual. Sudden mutation (though impossible in the real world) is such a common and basic theme of scifi/horror and MANY shows/movies (and entire subgenres, like vamire, zombie or lycanthropy films) that I can't imagine anyone finding it seriously depressing rather than just being used to it. But who says everyone would be upset about it? Being a monster would be more fun than having your own giant robot. Even if you lost your human memories and went on a mindless rampage, I'd still go for it.No one deserves to be turned into a "monster"
