My Two Cents Re: Today's KWB

    Like This Thread!
Apparently, that Pokemon-read-books contest will be next weekend(?)'s special "theme", with the kiddie winners winning. Odd that they mentioned Jess Harnell (sp?) and that he did the voice of Wakko (complete with a nanosecond of Recycled Stock Footage of the Wakkster), since I figured they had long since left A! for dead and purged all memory/mention/traces of said show from their all-action/Poke-oriented lineup. (Shrug)

X-MEN: Nice to see (albeit in a rerun I hadn't seen before) Magneto finally stops pulling the old Shadow-Ensconsed-Villain routine and reveal himself (after a gazillion episodes of said routine, vs. him just showing up on Fox's X-series). Apparently the "Cauldron" itself mostly consists of (the powers-altering thing aside) gaining a really buff body and a cool new hairdo.... maybe Magneto would have an easier time subjugating humanity by peddling the thing in some sort of global franchise chain ;-)

(BRAIN: A chain of "cauldron"s across the country that could win over a body-conscious public would make me the supreme ruler of *Earth*! Blast! Why didn't *I* think of that before?!

PINKY: Um, because you don't carry out your plans by hiding in shadows and have a really cool asteroid hideout and can't send objects flying around in a really cool way? POIT!

BRAIN: Thanks for that shot of confidence....)

Browsed through eBay (where I think I've finally managed to find a new (used) computer that's light-years above the clunker I've got now)...flipped past Pokemon (with the thought of: if Meowth taught himself how to talk, then does that mean that the other Poke-critters only being able to say their own names over and over mean they're some sort of speech-skills-learning slackers? :-) ...

MiB: The return of Alpha, and his subsequent escape thanks to more stupid moves made by J...though since they're just burning off the last of the episodes, we probably won't be seeing him again. Though it was a pretty mediocre episode overall...

    That darn cat

Actually, I've read that cats have vocal structures perfect for speech, but lack the intelligence to use them to full advantage. They are able to make some 100 different sounds. So from the biological/zoological perspective, Meowth speaking rather than an Onyx or a Vulpix or a Pikachu isn't that farfetched. So if it were possible to increase a cat's brain power, they could learn to speak very well. Although what would they say, is my query. If my mom's cat Tiger Lily could talk she'd probably swear like a drunken sailor. Woe to me if I'm late with her can of food or don't clean her litterbox to her liking.

As for "The Cauldron", this is its third airing in just a month! It's one of the best X-Men eps on KWB, which still doesn't say much...they still don't outline Magus' true reasons for despising humanity and never once mentioned that Pietro/Quicksilver is his son (at least he's in the series, which is more than I can say for his mother Magda or twin sister Scarlet Witch). As for Brain scheming to take over the world using people's vanity--it could work, but the Cauldron's effects would probably render the users blind or crippled or impotent or something equally as horrible.

MIB reminded me a lot of Silence of the Lambs...although when de-evolved in "The Out to Pasture Syndrome" Alpha lost an arm, and here he seemed to have it back.

Good to see Wakko Warner back on KWB--and it should be a hoot to see Harnell next week! He's got this whole Howard Stern look going on, with the glasses and the hair....

I suspect the main purpose of this ep was to set Alpha loose, so's MIB can have a big Final Confrontation with him to end the series. I just hope the final-ep writers come up with something original and satisfying.

Sounds like you have an extremely typical feline. It's probably just as well for Humanity, that those critters lack the power of speech.
And just as well for the cats, too, or what socially-adjusted person would want to keep one?

Maybe...though I have doubts about that...

Well, that's Belch's comment re: felines, not mine (my mom doesn't even like cats :-) Still, there is that movie coming out this summer called "Cats and Dogs" (cats and dogs are secretly aliens at war with each other when humans aren't looking)

Noted a use of the (in)famous "two places at once" bit on today's "Buzz Lightyear", though nobody screamed and passed out from the "shock"...

It's a little scary, just how believable that theory is. It could certainly make a decent movie if handled properly. (Big *if*.)

I thought the Cats and Dogs were just that...cats and dogs and not aliens.

    Actually--

--I don't see why a cat would want to bother taking over the world. It's too much trouble. Most cats would rather just sleep most of the day, be waited on hand and foot, and expend as little effort as possible. Now...if a cat could talk a mouse into handling the dirty back-breaking gruntwork...

True, but mice are pandimensional beings who had the Earth built for their own purposes. But you knew that. I hope.

Anyway, so long, and thanks for all the fish!

The fish line is also from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and is in fact the inspiration for the fourth title in the Hitchhiker's Trilogy, So Long And Thanks For All the Fish. No, we're not making any of this up. In fact, your education will remain sorely lacking until you go read some Douglas Adams. Well, what are you waiting for! Chop chop!

Chop chop? You said Douglas Adams, not Kung Fu.

Don't read it -- hear it!

TIMO, the books aren't as good as the original radio series. You get the bonus of listening to some wonderful music.
