    Battlefeild: Earth Gets Animated

    Like This Thread!
The scary part is, the TV spin-off is never as good as the movie.

    L. Ron Hubbard licensing group Author Services, Inc. is planning the production of 13 animated episodes based on the book “Battlefield Earth” and subsequent film, which Roger Ebert described as “like taking a bus trip with someone who has needed a bath for a long time. It’s not merely bad; it's unpleasant in a hostile way.”

Author Services Senior VP Javier Ruiz says the series will deliver “an explosion of anime color and graphic detail” in the style of manga, the comic books that provide the basis for most Japanese animation.

Dan Haggerty (“Grizzly Adams”) will provide the voice of Terl, the dreadlocked Psychlo villain played by John Travolta in the movie.

Chow Yun-Fat has been named as a possible voice for non-English versions of the series.

Maybe they didn’t release the movie in Hong Kong.

I guess NO ONE saw the movie.

Time to edit my previous post

Can I change my previous post to 11 Worst Cartoons EVER?

Oh, dear lord. Haven't the Scientologists done enough to make themselves look bad already?

In the name of all that is good and sweet in Odin's beard why? WHY?!

As much as I hate to say it the first 1/4 of the movie was not that that bad, then came the plot holes big enough to fly a 1,000 year old military jet (in perfect working order) through.

The really sad thing is that I'll probably end up watching the first episode as I tend to give anything that claims to be action animation one chance. Anyone know where this will most likely air? I'm guessing maybe Fox kids, hey it can't get much worse.

Chow Yun-Fat has been named as a possible voice for non-English versions of the series you say? Is that just wishful thinking on the part of the creators or has he actually expressed interest?

I've never read the book(or seen the movie), but I've heard it was pretty bad, also.

Supposedly the reason it sold so many copies is that all the Numerologists(or whatever they're called) bought several copies a piece. From what I understand about the religion, the more money you spend on it, the more exalted you become. What a clever scheme!

Like anything else, I'll give it a try, but I have this bad feeling that it will just reek. But it could be good. STASHIP TROPERS sucked, but the animated series was amazng and grondbreaking.

Scientologists are expected to buy copies of Hubbard's books to keep it on the NYT Bestseller List. Or something like that.

Yup. Scientology is a semi-legitimized cult that suckers money out of people through a strange spiritual practice called "auditing." They aggressively sue ANYONE who dares criticize them, in addition to digging up dirt on their detractors/defectors to try to ruin their lives. L. Ron Hubbard himself was a controlling, manipulative man who created the "religion" for his personal benefit. And it's true, Scientologists have been ordered to buy L. Ron's books by the truckload, so that they'll appear on the best-seller lists and make them look legitimate. Pretty much anyone who isn't a scientologist will tell you that, as an author, L. Ron was a hack and a half. Still, lots of impressionable celebrities get suckered into this organization, like Tom Cruise, Jenna Elfman, and, yup, John Travolta. Explains a lot, doesn't it?

I found this totally random website that seems to be a good jumping-off point for general knowledge of the corrupt nature of this organization:

Thanks for the info Jervis, as if Special Intrest Groups weren't bad enough, eg? Jeez louise....

I honestly thought and hoped DG was seriously joking, and had something related to tell us. That alone flushes this project's hopes down the toilet. But I, like many, have to give it a chance. After all, I don't like to hate something just because....

I've never seen or read either the book nor movie. So I may just give it a chance, is it really that bad?

I'm a big movie buff and can usually sit through anything. Well, I saw B:E and left 30 minutes in because of how awful it was. I finally saw the whole thing on video awhile back and the remaining 90 minutes suck even more than the first 30. Bad movie.

Some would argue that Godzilla:TAS was better than the movie.

It could be good, you never know. I don't know a whole lot about the actual plot of Battlefield Earth, but the basic concept seems workable under competent hands. The movie was destroyed by many factors.
