I haven't seen AT3 .. but I saw 4 a while ago.. now I've heard that AT2 was a dream?! .I seriously don't remember that... I thought they stayed in the west. and since AT4 and 3 are set in New York.. do you think Fievel and friends should be in the west or the east?
.. sorry, maybe I just need to see the movies again.. I could've sworn that 2 was the perfect ending..?

There are a couple of dream sequences in AT2, but I don't think the whole movie is a dream...
I haven't seen AT3 either, though.

As far as I, and many others, are concerned, AT3 and whatever came after NEVER HAPPENED, as in those were all nightmares concocted by a greedy studio hellbent on trashing an otherwise great movie and it's followup.
American Tail: Fievel Goes West IS where the story ends unless you want to count Fievel's American Tales, the short lived CBS Saturday Morning Cartoon, which is also set in the wild west.
