I've seen the promotional. When a male lion slaps a female lioness on her behind and and says "God, I'm good!", how that not be rated "TV-14"?! I give this series one month!Originally Posted by Spongebrain2.0
I just watched a preview on NBC's website and just want to stress to everyone that FOTP is NOT for Kids! Despite Donkey from Shrek being a guest star in one episode, this show is currently carrying a TV-14 rating. This show is raunchier than The Simpsons! The visuals make it look like a little kids show but it is NOT!![]()

If the show is as bad as I think it might be, NBC will air the show until the ratings drop too low, they'll take it off the air, then burn off the rest of the episodes next summer.
If the show is actually good, well, I've never seen a prime time cartoon suceed outside of anything on Fox's schedule.

uh i mean airing it for a full season, just because they make a full season means they have to air it allOriginally Posted by Spongebrain2.0
Yeah, I think this show will be a hit though, NBC is already pimping it ALL THE TIME. And saying that Donkey will have a cameo will deifnetly bring in a TON of viewers.

You'd have to be over fifty years old to have seen The Flintstones succeed in primetime, so I'm guessing most of us have never seen that![]()
My fault, I should have been more specific. I haven't seen a cartoon succeed in Primetime other than on Fox in recent years. I, too, am too young to have known Flintstones in Primetime.Originally Posted by Happy

I don't think I ever mistook it for a kiddie show.
Yeah, but I know a lot of parents at test screenings did and were pissed, just shows you how parents should watch what they let their kids view.

Some of it is alright, but it is too early to pass judgment, we'll see what the first full episode is like. I assume that much of this was made before the little mauling at a Siegfried and Roy show, so if this show does go beyond what NBC has ordered then I wouldn't be surprised if they tried getting away from that aspect.
Be sure to catch 24 every Monday at 9pm Eastern on Fox (and 10pm Eastern on Global). Watch it, because you know you're brighter than Michael Irvin.

Not *quite* that old (speaking as somebody who did see it.)
But it's certainly true that successful prime-time cartoons ('The Jetsons' is another) have been few & far between. And it appears mandatory for it to be about a wacky-but-lovable family.
I'm not sure FOP's brand of wackiness is gonna cut it, though. 'Sounds like an escapee from 'Adult Swim.'
I'm old enough to have seen Flintstones in Prime Time but not yet fifty (ok I'm forty eight). What little I've seen of this FOTP doesn't inspire enthusiasm but it might be ok. I'm not liking this CGI style much. And there seems to be too much use of this gold effect and not enough emphasis on character differentiation.
But I'm likely to be picky. If if fails it will damage the chances for any prime time animation which would be sad. They can't see that it would be a case of a bad program, no they'll say animation in prime time just doesn't work. Despite a questionable premise to begin with. It does have potential but it remains to be seen how good it is.
With all those reality shows on, I'm going to welcome some more animation to the lineup of programming on television.
It's too expensive. Even with decent ratings it'll be cancelled after the season.
Bah! I read an article about this whole not-for-kids thing in the news, and I say poppycock! I remember another animated show that was very controversial in its day that was intended for an adult audience, but lots of kids watched anyway. Eventually, the controversy boiled over and it became known as one of the greatest shows of all time! It was some show about people with yellow skin or something...Originally Posted by Spongebrain2.0
I say animation is for everyone, anyway. (I try to stray away from the "c" word because that usually ties the art form with children.)
"If you take away our cartoons, we'll grow up without a sense of humor and be robots."
"Really? What kind of robots?"
-Lisa and Bart Simpson, Itchy and Scratchy and Marge
I'm gonna give any show a chance, hopefully this animated piece (also decides to avoid c-word) will last long enough to keep me interested.
