    Interstella 5555...only Toonami?

    Like This Thread!
Well in case you guys don't know, the Daft Punk/Leiji Matsumoto's collabaration movie "Interstella 5555" has been released in America this month.

This movie is the finishing continuation of Daft Punk's animated music videos off of their 2001 album Discovery. If you remember correctly, Toonami had a specail Midnight Run showing thier Williams Street music videos, videos from the Gorillaz, a video from Kenna, and the first 3 Daft Punk videos...including the world premiere of "Harder, Better, Faster Stronger".

However, the video ended at a cliffhanger...NOW, a year later the whole Discovery album has been made into music videos, thus it has become a full, complete movie. Enter the name: Interstella 5555.

SO, do you think that their is any chance of Toonami hooking back up with Daft Punk to premiere the rest of their vids. The movie itself only runs about 62 mins. I'm confident that's enough time for a one hour special...

Still, I can only hope. Though even if this dosen't happen, make sure you go out and get the movie on dvd. It rocks.

    What do you guys think?

    ...

With the first half being played as a major part of Midnight Run: Special Edition AND Toonami's use of music videos recently, I wouldn't be surprised.

But then, I logically think the audience can't be that great for it, it would definitely be something different...

If it was offered to CN at a great price, sure. If not, I doubt they'd go to great lengths to grab it. Even if they did, I wouldn't be surprised if it sidestepped to Saturday or went the "Hey, AS needs something new. This isn't 100% kiddie, let's put it there" route.

Hmm. You have a point Knux. Although if it dosen't hit Toonami, SVES would be a good place for it....and I guess Adult Swim would be nice...

Honestly, I don't see much of anything to be worried about once if it hits Toonami except

Williams Street have got to be fans of Daft Punk. I think its only right its done justice on Toonami. Come on CN! Buy, buy, buy. (crosses fingers)

What are the odds Toonami viewers (AKA brats who watch SD Gundam) have even heard of Daft Punk? Remember, the videos were on the Midnight Run, not regular hours.

Oh, I have no doubt that it's content would be suitable for Toonami, it's just that some shows have gone to AS for no reason. Groovenians? Pilot Candidate? Gundam 0080? Outlaw Star and Tenchi? Admittedly, some of those were just filler, but still, they didn't fit AS in that form.

That would be good. I taped them when they were on Toonami, but I taped over them when I used that tape for Adult Swim. Wherever it goes, I'm sure it'll be good.

I agree, filler sucks. Unless it's good.

If it counts as anything, promos were shown during daytime hours for the Toonami:Midnight Run Special Edition. Plus the WS videos were shown pretty much every weekdays. God I miss Dreams...

I still have Midnight Run SE recorded.

You know now that I think of it...the last Gorillaz video needs to be shown too. "Rock the House".....crap, they could air it but they might have to cut out that one last scene with Murdoc

BTW, can someone give me a list of all the new vids Toonami has been showing recently.

I've only seen them premire The White Stripes "Fell in love with a girl" and Vermon Tobin's "Verbal feat MC Decimal R", the vid with the racing cars. I thought that was real spanky.

    I agree....

No point playing Gundam 0080 on Adult Swim after you've neutered it so bad for Toonami.

As for Daft Punk, it doesn't matter to me where it goes. Toonami or AS, it'll be a one-time-only affair.

I could see it being a Friday special. It wouldn't need to be on AS and Toonami could use something fresh soon.

I recorded it, and back then I was only, say, 10 years old. What makes you guys think that at least some children won't remember Daft Punk, Kenna, the Gorillas, and Toonami? I do.

I recored it too, but I think I might have overwritten it since. Since I downloaded the videos online it's no big deal the Toonami stuff just didn't matter to me (sorry KnuxFive).

Is this somethings that's actually not at the TDA?

I saw it and loved it, but I can't imagine it ever airing on Toonami. A movie by Leji Matsumoto, featuring Daft Punk's music, and having no dialogue does not strike me as a ratings hit, especially with Toonami's target audience. Maybe it could air somewhere else on the network, but I don't think that's going to happen.

? There were like, maybe 5 Toonami segments, all of them being along the lines of "That's it for Daft Punk, Gorillaz is next".

The promo had more stuff to it.

Actually, Rock the House never aired...a few posts above I explained most likely why...that and Rock the House had just premiered only a few weeks after Toonami:SE in the UK.
