Best Toonami Show Tourney Round 1 Battle 8

    Like This Thread!
First it was the classics, now it's the newbies.

Both premiered on Toonami at around the same time to celebrate the new look with TOM3. One is set in the late 1800's and involved a samurai with god-like speed. The other is set at around the present and involves a dead boy who is to protect the Earth. Both go from light-hearted to deadly-serious in a flash and both have become two of Toonami's top rated shows ever. But can the Battousai beat the Spirit Detective?

Feel free to discuss why you chose what you chose.

I'll only vote if there is a tie after 7 days.

    Updated scoreboard: (Winners in bold)
    01) G Gundam vs. Cyborg 009
    02) He-Man vs. ThunderCats
    03) Dragonball vs. Batman: The Animated Series
    04) Mobile Suit Gundam vs. Gundam Wing
    05) Cardcaptors vs. Hamtaro
    06) Dragonball Z vs. The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest
    07) Voltron vs. Robotech
    08) Rurouni Kenshin vs. YuYu Hakusho
    09) G.I. Joe vs. Powerpuff Girls
    10) ReBoot vs. Superman: The Animated Series
    11) Ronin Warriors vs. Justice League
    12) Superfriends (aka Superman/Batman Adventures) vs. Transformers: Armada
    13) Sailor Moon vs. Batman Beyond
    14) Tenchi Muyo! vs. Zoids/ZERO
    15) 08th MS Team vs. Outlaw Star
    16) Zoids: Chaotic Century vs. Gundam 0080

I love both shows that are in this match but I have to pick Yuskue, and the gang of Yu Yu Hakusho. I would die to see an battle Spirit Deticvite team Vs. Shisho's Gang or Kenshin and his gang. Both shows have there comedy jokes Botan's neko cat, and Kenshin's Oros.

Hardest choice yet, but I went with Yusuke-tachi over Kenshin-tachi. I like Yu Yu Hakusho better and it has a darker feel to it(yes, darker than Kenshin) while more lighthearted at the same time. It also has a wider array of characters as well, plus the lead male and female are a little more forward about their emotions.(But not too much)

Oh, now this is the easiest decision I ever had to make! Considering I'm slowly becoming obsessed with anything Kenshin, I'm going to have to voted for him. There's just too many wonderful things I could say about it, but I don't want to be here forever talking about it.

Wow Duke, I gotta tell ya...I expected to see a matchup like this later on...two powerhouses going at it this early...In anycase, I like Kenshin, but only got into it during the imcomplete Kyoto arc run on Toonami, versus catching Yu Yu from day one back on AS and then to Toonami. Close one, but I'm with the Spirit Detective, and his fancy title.

Wow...this is an INSANELY hard choice....but I had to vote Kenshin. The Kyoto Arc just O\/\/nZ the Dark Tournament.

I really like both of these shows and watch them whenever they're on.. These were great acquisitions to show on Toonami. But I'd have to vote for Kenshin.. watching that show has taken animes to another level... being able to balance light hearted fun with the tension of fighting... Wow.. good stuff.. :anime:

These are my two favorite shows so I honestly could not pick between the two of them, so I voted for YYH because it was losing:anime:

What made it so hard was that they are so different, yet so similar at the same time. The stories are so different, yet both so good. The characters fit in perfectly with each other, and it ends up being the ultimate struggle between good and evil, just either fighting it with a sword or a spirit gun

...I expected to see a matchup like this later on...two powerhouses going at it this early...
Same here, this is like final round quality shows here

Huh, since when did Wing beat MSG?

    http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=82378

This shows that MSG obviously won that poll.

Kenshin. Insanely good show. Possibly my pick for the best on Toonami ever.

When I first made the polls in the early morning, Wing was ahead.

Even with the edits, the Kyoto Arc of Kenshin is the most mature thing Toonami has ever shown...

Plus, it's one of my favorites. Ergo, I vote Kenshin.

Gah can't have another choice that says both? I picked Yu Yu because it is fun to watch Yuske kick the crud out of those demons with his clean up crew. I though I believe Rurouni Kenshin has a better story, takes place during a dramatic (?) era in Japan history, and awesome characters

Yu Yu will get really more serious during the 3rd arc of the series which ends in sad conflict. Even through the Dark Touranment gets kinda serious. But the next saga will get pretty seriouis since I read some of the stuff after the Dark Touranment. All I will say that you all will be shock at the end.

You guys disappoint me. Where's the fighting? The long discussions about why you care about Yusuke & his gang over Kenshin & his gang? The even longer discussions about how Kenshin can defeat anyone now that he has the Battousai's power? Come on!

Okay, because Duke wants it so bad.
Yusuke would fire a shotgun, defeating Kenshin and all his friends.

Normally I don't participate in that type of conversation. Cuz it usually degenerates into "My anime toon can kick your toons butt with XXXX attack, so there!" over and over to no end...

    But since...

Right before that attack, Kenshin would ask Yusuke and crew to pronounce "Ama Kakeru Ryu no Hirameki" 3 times fast. While they are trying, he would knock em out with his reverse blade sword

Hiei would use his speed to block each attack and then fire the Dragon of Darkness Flame at Kenshin.
