Why is it that they don't remove DBZ form toonami and play something better, I'm sure by now everyone has seen each saga at least twice.I know its probly because the rating are too good or something, but if they gave something eles a chance I'm sure the ratings would be just as good. All they need to do is hype it up as much as they hype DBZ.

Having watched DBZ since '99 and never leaving the block since, I agree with you to a point. Yes, DBZ needs some much needed rest, but Toonami is milking this final run...DBZ is Toonami's Michael Jordan, it has kept butts in the seats and has done so for YEARS. So from CN's perspective you cant retire a thoroughbred with a bullet. And in any case with DBGT coming the Goku universe will continue to be a presence in some form (new eps of DB too) no matter how much it may irritate some. For example, I would have never seen Outlaw Star or Gundam Wing if DBZ wasn’t the lead in...its tough now of course, but don’t worry Toonami will stand without DBZ (and really has for some time now DESPITE DBZ)

DBZ will be gone when people stop watching it. Not before then.

Cell saga is definitely my favorite saga...the Androids, the evolution of Cell....76 or 77 new eps, and at least 3 friends who never understood why I watched endless reruns of DBZ understood when they got hooked on the Android/Various Cell's sagas.

Yeah, Cell was my favorite saga as well. And I doubt they'll take DragonBall Z until 2005 or some date like that.

But yet the old guy has to be put down at some point, sad. But I still can't wait for GT. Especially later eps, which I have no idea how to talk about since i dont seem to be able to use spoilers. Oh well....

    Yet.

Well they're going back to the Frieza saga at the moment, though who knows exactly how far they'll show it. Though I don't think we'll get rid of The Real Adventures of Goku-San anytime soon.

For once I concur. Over here in the UK we get it shown 4 times a day -one ep around 7-8am(I'm not sure what time), 2 eps at 1.00-1.50pm(which has almost completed it's second full run), 1 ep at 5.00pm and another at 7.20pm (which follows om from the one at 5). CNX has really gone downhill. I hope when it fully becomes Toonami it improves. Plus DBGT is shown around the same amount of time. As much as I like DBZ I would like to see it have a rest for once.

Odd...I wonder why they don't just go back to the beginning. Anyway, how well is Dragonball Z doing in the ratings now that they've shown the last episodes? Is it still the highest rated show on the block?

Far too true. The thing is every year or so there is a new group of kids, young teens, and yes even teens and some adults that start liking Dragonball Z. A fresh batch of viewers often means that they could be airing it for years to come if they wanted to. However I'm betting they will finish of a full run then move into Dragonball GT next fall (or late summer like August).

You may think DBZ is just taking up space, but it still gets watched so why would CN take it off if it's still doing pretty well?

CN is doing a much better job at promoting things like Kenshin, YYH, Justice League, and certainly Cyborg 009 (TV spots, TV guide articles, etc.) Dragonball Z doesn't get too much promotion anymore (since there are no new episodes). I hadn't seen a DBZ commerial for a while until I watched SVES on Saturday, and they seem to have a new longer version of the old "Sometimes it's darkest just before dawn" add. It was pretty good, but the ravaged city at the begining looked more like it was from a Gundam series.

Here's my question... what would you replace Dragonball Z with? It's such an important part of the Toonami experience that I can't think of what I would replace it with other than maybe Dragonball. I'd sooner like them to drop Justice League for He-Man, Gundam Wing, .hack//SIGN, or Dragonball.

Toonami without DBZ... well it's just not the same.

I'm not sure what they would replace it with, but I do know it has to be something new and "shinny" looking. It should also be something funny.( I would prefer sexual humor) I 'd say something like "Colorful". Let me change the subject for a moment, desgin your "dream Toonami" so to speak. My would be this( this is with what they currently have on CN, but you can make your with any of the animes you really like)
    -Dragonball
    -Kenshin
    -Yu Yu Hakusho
    -Cyborg 009
"You Dorks, no one insults my cape and gets away with it" (Homedude off "Lost Univers")

" To be forgotten is to never have existed" (Me ispired by Lain)
    "Oro"

Funi is eventually going re-dub season 1 and season 2 of DBZ. So the long running theory is that after that's done they'll run DBZ from start to finish. Only a theory, of course.

I hope not, otherwise we're NEVER gonna get Dragonball Z off of Toonami. Of course, the only way a redub of seasons 1 and 2 would be a good thing is if Funimation uses the original music, which I doubt they'll do.

For Years DBZ has been shown on Toonami, actualy the only time I can remember it was not on was Giant Robot Week. Look at it from CN's view, How many EZ Edit, Kid Friendly, Multi Age/Gender, Fighter, With Humor everyone can get, Animes are more than 50 EPs long. CN needs a show that people will watch over and over again thats long enough to be played numerus times. I mean Yu Yu, Gundam (Pick One), Kenshin, Sailor Moon, Cyborg 009, are all great Animes but only so long.

    A little off subject -

I think there moving Kenshin and all these shows off and on of Toonami and SVES so they can find out if people are watching these shows because there good or because there after DBZ or somthing. They are looking for a replacement and from the Recent ratings they need to slip somthing old or new in fast.

Heres how they should fix it...

    Yu Yu
    Kenshin
    Tenchi
    DBZ
    Gundam W
    Outlaw Star

Yes the 3 Hr Line Up.

Or At least make a Poll on the site and see what the fans want.

actually Dbz wasn't even on the top ratings chart for cartoon network this time. kenshin and yuyu were.

    - Considering that the Trunks/Androids/Cell saga hasn't been seen in two years I doubt that everyone has seen each saga twice, let alone once. There are always new people watching the block and some of those probably haven't even seen the upcoming Frieza saga.

    - The ratings for DBZ may be down for the moment, but the only sagas that have aired since September are Seasons 6 and 7. Many other shows have had their chance since DBZ started, there have always been at least two other shows on the block. However, while many shows have done well, the only show that has come close to the best of DBZ's ratings has been Gundam Wing.

"I'm not sure what they would replace it with, but I do know it has to be something new and "shinny" looking. It should also be something funny.( I would prefer sexual humor)."

    - I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you aren't going to see sexual humor on Toonami. Plus, considering Toonami's core target audience is 9-14 year olds, I can't say that sexual humor beyond Master Roshi's antics really has a place on Toonami.

"Or At least make a Poll on the site and see what the fans want."

Unfortunately, the people at this board are not an accurate representation of the overall Toonami fan base. The fact is DBZ does have many fans or else it would not have gotten high ratings for such a long period of time. Those fans would have a lot of voting power as well.

I have been and still am a huge fan of DBZ, watched it every day since the summer of 1999 and if I couldn't watch it that day, I taped it. Now that its finally over, I don't watch it much anymore, but I still have my tapes, and sometimes I'll catch it for a week or so and then smile as I watch an old friend doing that thing he does so well.

Sexual humor? Oh my... I hate shows like Love Hina so soooo much..
    Don't look at this space.

    Still, Consider

    3 Mil for DBZ
    1,000 For Tenchi
    1,100 For Kenshin
    301 For Gundam

And everything else dropped below 300, we still get 3 outta 4.

Look, all i have to say Is If they Toss "DBZ - Uncensored" Onto Adult Swim Im moving to Canada...
