As an addition to this thread it would be an interesting comparison if people also posted their age in addition to their choice.
I hate them both, give me Nikelodeon!
No, this is not a versus thread. We all know both blocks have their place. But which one do you prefer? I personally would go with Adult Swim because they present more varied anime with "risky" (no endless punching) subject matter.
Toonami is currently better than it's ever been, with Kenshin and Yu Yu, but I can't help think we got inneundo and the acknowladgement of death to pass on Toonami because of AS.
As Maune said, please reply if you vote in the poll, with your age. Also, I'd like to at least hear briefly the reason for your prefrence.

Toonami, natch.
It's the original, and that's why it hurts to see it be bested by SVES.
Oh, and age? Some stuff is now legal, some stuff still ain't. That should narrow it down.

Well, as of now the only thing I watch on Toonami is Kenshin but it is going away in a few days. The Onl thing I watch on AS is Home Movies but its only on once a week. So I guess I would really don't like any of these blocks that much since there so little of what I like. Soon I won't watch Toonami anymore cause there simply nothing on it. They should just change the block to TOONAMI REJECTS. I don't like nick either![]()
so I really don't know how to vote.
I am 16 turning 17 soon.
I like both of them equally. I watch and/or record almost every show on both blocks every day their on. My age is 17.

I can't choose. Maybe years ago I would have like Toonami better (but then agian there was no AS then). I'm 18 and I've been watching Toonami for a pretty darn long time and I enjoy it, AS, and SVES.
Both have their good points and bad points. Neither seems to make me happier than the other. They both make me happy sometimes and they both can drive me crazy sometimes. It all depends...

From July 23, 1999 - November of 2001 I would have said Toonami wins hands down. Since the end of DBZ season 5 in 2001, Toonami just hasn't held me captive like it used to. For one part, shows that I enjoyed on AS like Yu Yu have moved to Toonami and I just don't like them as much when I know what I'm missing makes them better (in Yu Yu's case a lot FUNNIER). There are the occassional series that fire my imagination like Zoids, but these are becoming increasingly few.
Also, the series that have more recently premiered on Toonami are either like G Gundam that I hate, or like Kenshin which I already own. The ownership problem has reared it's head on Adult Swim as well in the form of Trigun and Bebop. I enjoy things like the mind-blowingly intellegient script of Reign, the retro humor of Lupin and the the retro look of Kikaider. Maybe I'd like MSG better if it were reanimated Kikaider style. Couple this with the end of the show that embodied every fantasy I had as a boy, DBZ, and the reasons for me to watch the block are continually shrinking.
I am 21 years old.

I like both equally.
Age: 16
Adult Swim - 36
Shows like Futurama, Family Guy, Kikaider, Big O, Trigun, etc just make it more enjoyable to me. Not to say I don't enjoy Cyborg 009, Kenshin, etc.
Adult Swim. Any block that gives Futurama a home gets my vote. Of course, if we're just going by the action portion, then it depends on what's on at the time. I'd probably have to say I prefer Toonami's action shows more in general, since they have had Kenshin, Reboot, Batman: TAS, Gundam Wing and Dragon Ball. Of course, ASA will own Toonami come August when FLCL and Blue Gender hit the scene.
Just turned 22 myself.
"I want to hurt this movie, but I can never hurt it like it's hurt me." - Crow T. Robot
Adult Swim - 18 in 7 months (but who's counting?)
I feel that AS has more variety with shows like Futurama, InuYasha, Lupin The Third, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Blue Gender, Kikaider, Harvey Birdman, Family Guy, Home Movies, Venture Brothers, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, etc. As you can tell, I watch pretty much everything on AS except Reign and The Ripping Friends. That's not to say I don't like what Toonami has to offer, it's just that AS has more.

Adult Swim. Toonami lost it's Golden Age (which had great shows combined with a very sweet Toonami event) whereas Adult Swim is currently in it's Golden Age. Plus, it has more variety.
And I'm 150 years old.
...
I voted for Toonami because I like it better than any other of the choices. T.O.M. always interacted with the fans and made the show better than just an action block with a host.

Yes, I can be rude at times![]()
I don't know about William c. Maune, but I think it'd be interesting to know in terms of appeal across the barriers of age. Alot of posters disagree on who exactly both blocks do/should appeal to, so it'd be nice to know.Age: Why the heck do you need to know?

Adult Swim appeals more to me because it is less edited, more sophisticated. People say I act more than my age, so I guess I fit more into AS. I LOVE Blue Gender, Kenshin (which is on Toon/SVES), Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, FLCL...etc.
I just like more adult shows. In this category, Adult Swim delievers.

I prefer Adult Swim. Why? Toonami has had many shows I like, but there schecduleing is so random it just turns me off. That's not the only reason though.

I'm going to have to say Toonami, just because it was the block that introduced me to anime in the first place. I like Adult Swim, though I honestly only watch a few of the shows (Kikaider, Inuyasha, Trigun) but I'm sure that I'll get more into it as new stuff comes (or when old stuff starts over). I like the less edited, more mature feel that Adult Swim has, but Toonami was my "gateway drug" into the drug called anime, so-to-speak. I love Kenshin and YYH (though I bet it was sweet on AS) and so far Cyborg 009. But I really like both equally, Toonami just has a soft spot in my heart (like "Mighty Morphing Power Rangers," but that is a different story all together).
Oh, and I'm 15 years old.
I think, while few will admit it, Power Rangers has a soft spot in many hearts.
I'm anticipating the revival in 2013.
