    Giant Robot Week: Nadesico WARNING!

    Like This Thread!
This is just a friendly warning for those about to watch the shows on Giant Robot Week for the first time. If you have any intention at all of watching more of Martian Successor Nadesico after GRW concludes, then please for the love of all that is good and decent DO NOT WATCH EPISODES SIX AND TWENTY-FIVE.

Nadesico contains about three or four major surprise events over the course of the series. One occurs in episode three. This will be spoiled if you watch episode six. Another incredibly large twist takes place somewhere mid-series. Episode twenty-five will completely ruin this for you. There's also another plot revelation that occurs at the very end of the series, and I can't remember whether it occurs in episode twenty-five or twenty-six. If it happens to be in twenty-five, it will make very little sense to you.

Watching the first episode should give you more than enough of an idea whether or not you want to continue watching the series. Honestly, there's only two things that will determine how much you enjoy the series -- its style and its satire. The show's style, a mixture of action/comedy/romance, is more than apparent within the first episode. The satire part, however, requires watching a great deal more of the series than just three episodes, so that won't matter anyway.

Trust me, the twists and turns in the plot, though few, are not only a major part of the series' appeal, but also tie directly into the parody/satire aspects of the show. This doesn't become fully apparent until having watched a good deal of the series. I can't even begin to comprehend what the effect on one's enjoyment of the series would be if these things were spoiled ahead of time.

Am I being a bit overdramatic? Perhaps. But when you're as paranoid about spoilers as I am, you just don't want this kind of thing to happen. I know there are others out there like myself, and for those of you who are...you have been warned.

(Also, a note to the mods: I'm not sure how you're planning on handling the reviews, but it sure would be great if you could keep the review thread(s) for Nadesico eps 6 and 25 completely separate from all other review threads, including the one for Nadesico ep 1. It would help out people who want to discuss Nadesico's first episode, but don't want to spoil themselves about the later ones.)

Hmm. I'm going to have to ponder over watching ep 6. I mean sure, spoil the surprise from episode three, but it's only episode three. At most that will reduce my enjoyment of episode 2, and that's it.

Ep 25 I'm definately staying away from. Geez, CN, the next to last episode?

The last big revelation begins at the end of episode 25, and continues on into the final episode. (at least I just finished watching the series with my anime club)

As for Nadesico in general, it is a fun series, but it was also a little bit dissapointing to me. (OK, I made a big deal about the ending, but that has nothing to do with this post) All in all, if you don't care about the plot at this time, go right ahead. If you do, then probably today's episode should be the only one you watch.

As for CN's weird decision for this weeks episodes, Ruri probably says it best:

    Baka.
StrangerAtaru: Just another one of those weirdo lurker guys with a screwed up mind and a Zako army at his command

Watching Episdoe 1 to see if it's worth bugging Cabelvision for the Anime channel, or buying the DVD's.

True, except for the fact that the event in episode three is quite possibly the single most surprising thing to happen in the series.

But, yeah, watching episode six won't be too damaging. Just steer as far as possible away from episode 25.

I don't care, I like spoilers. I spoiled myself to the moon and back for SW: Episode II and still loved it.

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

After all that talk about the spoilers and everything, I'm even more interested in watching episode 6 & 25 (Yes, it's having the opposite effect on me). All I'll do is watch the episodes, put off buying Nadesico for a month or two, and then buy and rewatch it with renewed interest (and possibly forget about the major plot points in episode 6 & 25).

Since most series take about three episodes just to introduce all the characters and set up the storyline, I don't see how anything that happens in the third episode could be a major surprise in the traditional sense. Eh. Alright, I won't watch. I'll take your word for it. Doesn't matter anyway, I put Nadesico on my "DVDs to buy" list a long time ago because it's one of Piro's favorites. Monday's episode just means I'm now going to buy it sooner rather than later.

true points all around. i cant understand why CN is still doing this, and it would be a pleasent surprise if they tossed in episode 2 and 3 instead. it would make up for a lot of misgivings i have felt for Toonami recently.
Aren't you tired of all of this? I know I am.
